Extreme tiredness all of a sudden?

Just wondered if anyone else experienced this? I'm 31wks pregnant and today I'm exhausted. Absolutely exhausted. I have zero energy, have to keep forcing myself to get up. I've not managed to even get dressed today! I've eaten a bit, drank plenty. But I've never known tiredness like this, it's like it's jut come on all of a sudden!? I slept well/fine last night, a good 9hrs, I had a 2hr nap over lunchtime, yet I'm zonked! I'm really fighting keeping my eyes open!? Keep startling myself awake to see I've had a little 5/6min snooze!

I'm at home with a 2yr old (poor thing has had tv/films on all day!) so it's not as if I can just
sleep either! (doors and safty gates closed so is in room with me at all times)

I think it's normal!

I'm 30 wks with no. 3, have 3 yr old and 17 mth old at home and feel exactly the same as you. Managed a nap on Sunday can't say I felt any better for it!

The heat doesn't help does it?! The only thing I would say is make sure you're drinking plenty, dehydraytion can make you feel tired.

I seem to remember feeling a boost of energy last time round at about 37 weeks or so.

Have you had your iron levels checked? Anaemia can come on pretty quickly in pregnancy and your symptoms are classic for low iron levels. It might be worth giving your midwife a call if the tiredness persists.

I was going to say anaemia too. Somewhere in the late 20w's I remember being utterly exhausted and worried that it was going to be like that for the rest of my pregnancy, but I was just anaemic and iron tablets worked a treat.

Hit me at 28weeks, they did say I had low iron then too

My midwife has never mentioned my iron levels, but I take anticogulants (prev history) and my heamotologist has mention low iron/anemia. I think I'll bring it up when I see the midwife next week.. Just seems bizarre as its come on very intense all of a sudden.. Finding it quite over powering Sad

Thanks x

Hi, I'd suggest checking this out asap, if it is anaemia then the sooner the better really. I had extreme tiredness - I felt like I had a flat battery, no energy at all - and it was 1st symptom of pre-eclampsia for me. Ring your midwife and explain you feel suddenly exhausted and ask for an appt tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be nothing but at least you'll know soonest if you need iron.
