Hello. Would be great to get some advice from other Mums as this is my first time so not sure what to make of all these new sensations.

For the last week I have been getting aching cramps (like period pain). Seems to be linked into needing the loo. So cramps for 5-10mins, go to the loo, then fine.

Is this normal? Any ideas why it could be happening?

Also, happening 4-5 times a day and often in the middle of the night as well which is annoying if nothing else.

And before you ask (and sorry to be graphic), I mean bowel movement. Blush.

I've never really had these kinds of issues before but I know hormones can have a lot to answer for.

Otherwise feeling fine, normal energy and weight and no other real symptoms.

I had this - it is very normal Smile

Hiya - I'm 7+1 weeks with my first and I've had cramps every day since the beginning. They feel like mild(ish) period pain. A lot of people here have said that its stretching pains, especially with your first as your body is getting used to being pregnant. Hoping that's true and it helps, but will watch your thread with interest for other comments. I wouldn't worry too much if you aren't bleeding though.

I had this too - kept expecting my period. Dd is now 8.5

TeaandHobnobs thank you for the reassurance. Did it last all the way through for you? I'm hoping I don't have this for the next 34 weeks!

I had the same with dd1 and am now 6+4 weeks pregnant with number 2 and have had the same pains this time. Both times they happened between weeks 4 and 6. No pains now though, just good old morning sickness that lasts all day!! Sad

TeaandHobnobs · 14/08/2012 14:37

Lol, no, thankfully Smile It must have gone on for a few days, I think, but then it stopped.

I remember it was very painful though! There was at least one night when I couldn't sleep because of it, and a day where I had to stop driving and swap with DH because I couldn't concentrate.

Hope it eases for you soon and you have a nice calm pregnancy!

Thank you. Thanks Sounds like it is fairly normal.

Good to know it should clear up soon but then as you say I will have the morning sickness to look forward to! Smile

I had this, twice it was not good news and was the beginning of an early miscarriage but also had spotting.
Third time also had cramps and spotting thought here we go again and it was all normal, now 28 weeks! So it can go either way, wishing you the best (Sorry don't want to be negative but think its better to have all the facts)

I had this when I was pg first time round with ds. I was convinced I was about to miscarry- I didn't. I actually had period type pains for a lot of this pregnancy (not the case this time round- think my body has done all it's stretching already). Good luck x

nearlymumofone · 14/08/2012 15:50

oh- forgot to add, the pains started from about 4-5 weeks so I expected I was about to get my period and never did!

AmyInWonderland · 14/08/2012 19:14

I had this too from 4 Weeks to about 7 (nearly nine now). I was concerned too but doctor said was normal but if it gets really really intense or gravitates towards one side then get it checked out. Good luck x

Hippolyta20 · 15/08/2012 10:24

Thank you for all your thoughts. It sounds like it is normal for around this time. Not getting worse and no spotting. Also central rather than to one side.

Will just try and relax Smile.
