My subject line says it all really... I started spotting at 9 weeks, went to GP and got referred for an early scan, all was fine. Bled a lot more at 11 weeks, plus faintness and cramps, went to A&E, had a scan, all was fine. Still bleeding, had "normal" 12 week scan today, all still fine.

Everyone I've seen (about five different doctors/nurses now) has been very helpful and sympathetic but basically all they can say is 'yes, that can happen, come back if you are worried'. The one good thing I've had is no clots that I've seen.

Has anyone else had persistent bleeding like this and if so what happened? I can't keep going back for more scans, it's getting ridiculous! Obviously I'm cheered that the docs are being very reassuring, but still, it's unnerving.

i had similar with dc1, it happened 5/6 times and stopped at about 15 weeks, very scary and worrying but all worked out in the end.

Yep I did, throughout my last two pregnancies. Big bleeds, followed by light bleeding and the occasional week of no bleeding at all.

Both times I had PROM, and went into labour early, but babies all fine.

ANTagony · 13/08/2012 19:45

My first pregnancy went on like that till 13/ 14 weeks. I had three scans lots of appointments and no explanation. My second was different know real bleeding.

It's so hard to hear try not to worry, or come back if you are. How can you not and the more you think the harder it is to rationalise your thoughts, especially with early pregnancy hormones kicking in.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and reaching your first milestone within it. Hopefully the bleeding will stop as you progress into the second trimester.

When I was about 16 weeks with my last baby, I had a thread on here where I had passed a fist sized clot. By that time I had had so many scans and so much bleeding that I wasn't worried any more.

There was never a cause for my bleeding found either time. The second time they were convinced I must have placenta previa as I was presenting exactly how they would expect, but the placenta was up out of the way.

Someone women do just bleed. Monitor it and go back if you are unhappy.

Yep, with DS1 and DS2, never had a concrete reason for it (all sorts of theories and conjecture though!) I wouldn't worry about going back for scans, if you need reassurance then you need reassurance. I found it easier to deal with once I could feel movement tbh.

FWIW, despite the fact they seemed to spend the beginning of the pregnancy making me believe they wanted out, they both ended up being overdue and absolutely perfect Smile

Thanks very much all for the replies Smile I will try and keep to not worrying!

It's very cheering to hear this as initially the doctors were saying 'oh yes this is quite common' but they've stopped saying that as it has kept on happening.. so I am very reassured just to see that there are other MNetters who have experienced this. Cheers guys.

I always called first and nine times out of ten they wanted to see me to check everything. Ds is now 4 and perfect Grin I just found out I'm pregnant again so am hoping This time I have a smoother time. best of luck x

With DC1 I had heavy bleeding till 7 weeks, then it got lighter with a few days inbetween until 15 weeks. DD was fine.

This time I had lots of bleeding but not so heav as last time and it all stopped by about 10 weeks.
