Bleeding but hcg levels still rising, anyone had similar? Positive would be nice

Hi, I got a bfp 2 weeks ago but started bleeding the same day, felt all was lost and it was a chemical pregnancy but as I was getting a darker line on test after a few days I went to doctors incase ectopic etc, long story short my the bleeding became heavy like af but my levels have risen like a normal pregnancy, the bleeding stoped for 3 days but has started brown spotting again, levels checked yesterday and still doubling, I'm so scared and a nervous wreck as no idea why, I will be having a scan on Thursday but any one else with similar?

Yes! My HCG was 29 and I was already spotting and told to expect the worst. Following day it was 45, then next day 145 and so it continued. The result is now 3! I'd had IVF and 2 embryos put back, so I guess the bleeding was the second one not making it, or implantation bleeding. If your HCG is doubling within 48 hours that's v v v positive!

Thank you holly, I did wonder if originally there might have been more then one as I got a faint + on the sat, a digi + on the tuesday and I think they measure at 25mlu and then my first blood was 20, that's why I was sure it was failing, they went 20-50 over 48 hrs then 50-235 over 2 days and then 233-745 over another 4 but I'm still bleeding/spotting now and it seems to be getting progressively more each day again so not sure what to think, did you keep bleeding or was it just the one? X

Oh and my first blood was the Thursday do 6 days after initial +

I had another, v big bleed at 11 weeks but it was all fine. Sounds like you've had a v late implantation. Do you know when you ovulated, so you can work back? Implantation is usually about 10 days post ovulation but can be later.
Re HCG, the numbers are less important than the rises, and so long as they're at least doubling then all should be well!

Are these HCGs via your GP/hospital or on some kind of home test?

The hospital have done the bloods, I did the hpt tests initially, no idea on ov but I think stress and illness made it v late, I didn't get a faint + til day 38 I normally only have 26-32 max cycles so it's been strange from the beginning, by lmp is be 8 wks but by bloods only around 5-6 I think, I just wish I'd stop bleeding, it's so distressing every time I see more, had to wait til thur for scan as based on levels you can only see something over 1000, by thur if all goes well mine should be 3000 odd by then but I just can't accept its not going wrong, only had mc in may

Is it brown or red? Brown is ok, apparently. You should still be able to see something at 6 weeks - we saw a teeeny flicking heartbeat, like a cursor, at 5+6 but obviously I was totally sure with my dates cos of IVF.
If you see a heartbeat your chances of a live birth rocket to over 85%.
Using my totally non-professional experience I think you've ovulated very very late, got late implantation including an implantation bleed and your little fella is bedding in. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss ANC this stage of pregnancy is a deep madness but it passes. Please update on Thurs - I'm guessing you know there's a good chance it'll be a transvaginal scan, just so you don't get a startling surprise!

Thanks bagsofholly, it is red blood but in fairness it was a week ago too and levels still doubeled after, it could be so many things my friend at work bleed all through hers till the end and had red blood too, anyway nothing I can do but wait and pray, I really want it to work but only time will tell, thanks so much for the support I'll keep you updated x

I had bleeding more days than not until about 22 weeks. She's now 11 months and sleeping peacefully upstairs in her cot No cause was ever found, I was just told that some women just do. Good luck!

Might be was yours ever red, this is the thing that keeps panicking me, it's starts of pale brown but now has gone to red, it's not like my last mc which I had spotting once aday twice then a woosh and it was obvious, a pad every 2 minutes, it's like af

I had brown red bleeding until 7 weeks. Then I had two heavy period like bleeds at 15 and 18 weeks both times I thought I was having a miscarriage. I'm now two weeks away from giving birth. They could never find a cause for my bleeding sometimes women just bleed throughout pregnancy. I really hope it all goes well for you. I understand that it is so concerning when you bleed during pregnancy but it can be totally harmless. just try to stay positive.

Thanks muffin, I keep trying to be positive but the minute I do I seem to get hit with more bleeding etc, I'm truly terrified, I think more then anything I just wish I knew why, if it was mc, ok but this limbo land, I'm in hell, I feel like a different person at the moment who is scared and sick all the time

Hi there, it was a long time ago and I've forgotten the HCG numbers, but I had short bleeds with dd1 every four weeks in the first trimester, lighter, but in the same pattern as a period. (This was after 2mcs so I was very anxious, but she's 11 now and oh boy have I since learned what anxious really means:) )

Oh kitty it's really horrid isn't it? Yes, mine was sometimes red, but lighter than a period (for me). I have a friend who in her own words had an absolute flood of red and was fine. Fingers and toes tightly crossed for you x

I have never had blood tests for levels, but bled lots with my last 2 babies, bright red, clots and everything. They never did find a reason and with dd3 a scan at 6 weeks showed what appeared to be an empty sac, ten days later a blob with a heartbeat.

Thankyou for your stories, I didn't realise it was possible really as didn't have any with dd, had a bad bleed last night, bright red not mc like but af like now it seams to have gone back to being brown, it's like I had a period, had 3 days off then I've had another period, the epu is worried they won't see enough on thursday whatever but atleast I feel like something is being done and if there is just an empty sac to maybe not feel disheartened at this stage, really don't know what to expect but tired of worrying now, I can't change it, what will be will be

I bled for 5 weeks with dd1 and 3 weeks with dd2. Never had levels tested but I guess they would have been going up as all was fine in the end. Good luck for tomorrow, it is so horrible and stressful.

I had similar. In fact I started a thread about it as I was actually told I'd miscarried this has the levels I had

I ended up having a subsequent scan after the 3 lots of bloods and an embryo with a heartbeat was found! I was scanned every two weeks til twelve week scan and I'm now 27 weeks

Hi! I'm currently bleeding at the moment like a light period as mine are usually very heavy. My LMP was 14 July - didn't come on period on 11th Aug so did test - it was v v v faint. Had blood test to check hCG levels and it was 16 (think I ovulated later than I originally thought!) Had a test today and will find out tomorrow if they're doubling. Realy very doubtful as I started bleeding yesterday afternoon. First it started off as brown blood now it's bright red. Got through 2 pads today. I'm really worried and hope I'm ok. How did you get on?

Unfortunatly I ended up having a mc, just confirmed today
However my levels were still rising after the first bleed which I think was a break through bleed/af I started spotting again 3 days after that and had another big red bleed Monday night, I think bleeding in pregnancy is never good but some people do have happy endings, my first test was 20 and that was 5 days after a vv faint line on frer and eventually went up to 800 ish before things went wrong for me, good luck

I am badly in need of your suggestion. I am not sure when I conceived as I have PCOS and my dates are off. When I realized I got pregnant, after 2 weeks I started spotting and then light bleeding with very horrible cramps that lasted for 3 hrs n I passed a big clot then 2 small clots. Thereafter I spotted for 5 more days but not heavy . It was bright red. Dr did a US and said uterus is clean. But after that my hcg is rising 96 (8/3) to 232 (8/9) to 337(8/11) to 526(8/15) to 733(8/18). I have to go on Monday again to test and US. I am not sure what's happening? Is this tubal or normal pregnancy? Please suggest
