Hi, I have a VERY annoying tickly cough that is worse at night and keeping myself and my DH up. can I take Benylin during pregnancy for example? Packet says check with your doctor, or pharamacist, but I thought I'd check with you lot first.......

about all you can take is a simple linctus e.g. Boots honey, lemon and glycerin (or something similar) You cant take anything with a cough suppressant, or similar which is a bit of a pain - better to be safe than sorry though!

no you can't take benylin or any decongestants. ask the pharmacist for advice about what you can't take. my consultant when I was PG cheerfully told me that she couldn't prescribe anything for my cough that would actually do anything for it!!

i was told not to take ANY cough medicine by my GP when i asked about it. just use honey & hot water, she said.

oh and i was recommended to use one of those plug-in defusers from carvol. it helped a lot for my cold and cough too. the carvol one was ok for kids and pregnancy.

Hi, I checked with my Pharamacist about what I could and could not take, and they said no cough medicine but, I could have the cough sweets.(Halls Soothers and Tunes.)

Also try this:- Hot water, spoonful of honey, lemon juice, and you can actually have paracetamol (the only tablets you can have, but check with your doctor or MW).

Has anything worked Blossom?

I didn't bother with anything in the end. Didn't have any of the ingredients (too lazy I guess) and it seems to have passed. thanks for all advise though, I would have slugged cough mixture otherwise.
