Is it too early to worry about change/lack of movement?

I'm 24+6 and baby has barely moved all day (just the odd movement every now and then). Baby normally has quiet days and active days but the quiet days are never like this.

Have been out all day at the seaside but have actually done very little, so would have expected the baby to move a lot more as it normally does when I don't do much. Bump has felt really sore and tight most of the day but don't know if that's connected.

As I type this I'm feel a couple of little movements but nothing like I normally do. If I need to go to the hospital then I will but really don't want to if I don't have to as I'm absolutely exhausted and really need to get some sleep.

Can anyone help? xx

No, if you're concerned then you should call your MW or the hospital. I'd say hospital at this time of night. Don't leave it until morning;

it's never too early to worry. Get to the hospital NOW. At nearly 25 weeks you have a viable baby. If there is something wrong they will be able to help. If there is nothing wrong they will be only too pleased to reassure you and send you home. If your hospital does not have a 24/7 maternity triage, go to labour ward. Don't bother with A & E. Go!!!

I went to hospital for monitoring due to reduced movement at 24 weeks. The day assessment unit staff could not have been kinder and at no moment did I feel I had overreacted. They told me to come back anytime I felt I needed to.

If you are worried, GO. Now.

Hi Wk

I had this two weeks ago but fortunalty on the day i had to see MW anyway so she had a good listen to heart beat which was great and doing what it should.

Def get someone to listen to heart beat etc, but dont freak yourself out.

They can have a few quieter days. Mine had one that day and although i drank cold water just had very few and very weak movements not like normal.

the very next day she was back to normal...and hasnt been quiet since.

check it out, BUT dont worry.

Just got home from the hospital. Everything's ok. Will update properly after I've had some sleep but far too exhausted right now.

Just wanted to say thanks xx

Really glad. Don't be afraid to go again if you're ever worried about movements, it's what they're for.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 10/08/2012 10:50

Thanks for the update, I'm glad everything is ok.

Like Chubfuddler said, don't hesitate to go back any time you are worried. Even if that means every day/week and you feel like an idiot.

Hi all. Just wanted to say thanks again.

They were lovely at the hospital last night. Had trouble finding the baby's heartbeat at first but weren't worried because as soon the the midwife started to try and find it the baby kicked (typical)! Baby just kept movin away but she found the heartbeat eventually and it was all fine. Am measuring exactly right for my dates as well. Dr came and saw me as my bump was so sore but couldn't find any reason for it an told me to take paracetamol. But they reassured me to go back if I have any problems or concerns.

Baby still fairly quiet today but it's only half way through the day so plenty of time for that to change. And at least I know everything's ok in there! xx
