'Sort of' bleeding 6 weeks pregnant...do I need to ring somebody?

I am 6 weeks pg today, and last night before I went to bed I went for a wee and as I wiped there was a bit of brown blood on the paper. I freaked out, but went to sleep...woke up this morning and wiped again - clear. Mid morning I went to the toilet and the brown blood was back, not loads but there was also a bit in my knickers.
Later on I took DD to the farm, and felt a bit 'moist' sorry TMI down there so went to the toilet and there was more on the paper and then some in my knickers too, more than before. Been a little bit as I've wiped about 2/3 more times too, and also a little bit mucousy. It is all brown, not red at all very similar to the very end of a period. I have had the odd dull pain down there but nothing major and no cramping as such. I have been reading all sorts on Google etc - not the best idea.
It seems to have stopped, I've had a shower and a good 'clean' and I am praying that it goes away :( but I can't stop worrying, I think I am beginning to imagine things and convince myself that it is the start of something awful...
Does anybody have any experience/advice for me? Should I ring somebody tomorrow...Dr? Or shall I leave it if it goes away and reassess in a few days?

TIA. :)

Oh I wanted to add, that this is my second pregnancy and in my first I did not have any bleeding at all, ever, which is making me even more worried as it is something that I have not experienced. I have never had a m/c before either.

See how you go tonight, if you still have "bleeding" in the morning, then call your MW, i bet its nothing though.

Put your mind at rest and phone someone in the morning. Phone up the midwife unit/ docs if that is where your midwife is based and just have a chat with them. I'm afraid I don't have the experience of this to be of help, just wanted to reply to you and say the best way is to speak to a midwife and get some answers you can trust.

Thinking back I did have a bit of spotting at 12 weeks. Had to have anti-D injection to be on the safe side but that was just routine. There wasn't a problem though.

I would call someone for reassurance. I had implantation bleeding at 6 weeks, and panicked. An early ultrasound later proved all was well with baby. Good luck!

I had very similar bleeding to you at 5 weeks. It was never red, more like a brownish mucus (sorry, that sounds horrid!). It went on got about 5 days on & off and I had proper period type cramps in my back & stomach.

This is my third pregnancy & I've never had anything like that before so I really panicked thinking the pregnancy might be ectopic. to cut a long story short, my GP sent me for an ultrasound & when the midwife had a look (it was a transvaginal scan) it turned out that everything was fine, no bleeding was seen on the ultrasound & I was pregnant with twins (!).

She told me that it was probably old blood from implantation and that brown blood isn't usually a sign of miscarriage. I'm 16 weeks now & (fingers crossed) all is fine. I hope you are able to go for an early scan & that you have your mind put at rest. I know how worrying it is to go into the toilet & see blood there, no matter how much other people say it's probably nothing to worry about.

Thank you everybody for your responses, it is reassuring just to speak to others and gain opinions and advice :)

I think I might give the midwife a quick call in the morning just to put my mind at rest and see what she says. Fingers crossed I have no more bleeding.

Hi just wanted to share my experience with others...

I woke up yesterday morning and the brown blood had a slight red tint, I phoned the midwife who put me straight through to Dr - who saw me straight away and booked me in for an early scan. By this point (1pm) the bleeding had progressed and was now light/medium flow and red in colour.

The ultrasound showed nothing, no sac. Then I had an internal and again, nothing. I had my bloods done and was told that my hormone level should be around 1600 - I went back an hour later and it was only 350! So I have to go back on Sunday for more bloods, and if it's doubled then there is a chance that the pregnancy is still 'viable' however, I am 100% certain that whatever was, is no longer. My bleeding is now constant and period like, my boobs are no longer hurting etc...and I am just praying for it to be over quickly and to rule out an ectopic. :(

I don't want to worry anybody, but someone may come across my thread on a search - so if you are worried, and the blood is 'only brown' please go and see somebody (it may well be nothing) because everybody is so different!

Thank you again to everybody who originally replied to me. :) xx
