Can anyone recommend an insect repellant?

My OH who is newly pregnant with our second, really needs an effective insect repellant but we struggle to find anything that is suitable for a pregnant woman. Does anybody have any ideas? Unfortunately the bugs are finding her irresistible.

I used Mosiguard in all my pregnancies.

pharmacist said that anything that didn't contain DEET was okay to use (DEET = Diethyl Toulamide). But that might be dated.
