I am 30 weeks in to my second pregnancy and in both pregnancies have suffered with really bad pain under my ribs on the left, under my boob. It kills and gets worse as the day goes on. The only thing that helps is lying flat on my back which is hard as I have a 16 months old. Also I do a desk job so am currently signed off. The doctor said she thinks its tietze syndrome, swelling of cartlidge around the ribs i think. Just wondering if anyone else has been unlucky enough to experience this? thanks x

hi it's actually incredibly common, in pregnant and non-pregnant people. Some doctors will call it tietze syndrome but most will just tell their patients they have 'musculoskeletal chest pain' so they might never have heard the term. Its usually only diagnosed after more serious things have been ruled out. Unfortunately there's not a lot to do for it during pregnancy apart from finnding the position that's comfortable for you and taking paracetamol.
Ive had it outwith pregnancy and it was agony; thankfully it went away after a week or 2.
