Anyone help with GTT results?

I got a call saying my GTT results was 7.5 and that I need follow up as it was an indicater of GD. They can only offer Tuesdays for my next appointment and I only work part time and have 2 weeks left before I start my mat leave and am training someone so can't really attend an appointment til another 3 weeks time.

The day before, I had an unusually carby and sugary day which I don't normally (canteen veg toad in the whole, mash, fizzy drink). Cakes in the office. Would this have affected my results? I didnt eat anything after about 8.

Do I need to be worried about this result?

it could have affected your result, i had to have this test in my last pregnancy but results were ok. i put it down to the fact that id been surviving on lucozade, you should go though just incase x

hi do you mean you had nothing to eat after 8pm the night before the test or the morning of the test? If it was the night before the test then what you ate the day before definitely WON'T have affected the result. Did they say which result was 7.5? I'm assuming when you say GTT you mean GTT and not just a single blood glucose test. If it's the first (the fasting) blood glucose then this is slightly high and should be repeated. If it's the second result (after the sugar load) then it's not actually high and i wouldn't worry about it.

Yes Emmalou, I had nothing to eat after 8pm the night before. My fasting result was 7.5 and the second result was 4.5

I would go for the appointment. Work have to give you time off for these things.

I had my test 3 weeks ago and it was 4.7 before the sugar drink and 4.8 after the sugar drink (normal according to midwife). I ate chocolate at about 10pm the night before. The midwife said that anything over 11 indicated diabetes. They probably want to double check to be on the safe side.

HTH

sounds a bit weird the fasting result was higher than the one after the sugar load; it sounds like they got the tubes mixed up. I'd definitely say go to the appointment; it sounds like you're going to need a repeat test

I was thinking exactly the same thing Emmalou. I even asked that surely a 4.5 after would mean I was ok?
They said that because the fasting one was high, I need to come in.
I don't think its too bad though is it?
I think I'll just keep an eye on my diet and then take the appointment in 3 weeks.

it's obviously up to you if/when you go for a repeat appt but your health and the health of your wee one are more important than any job. Good luck
