GTT?

gardenpixies32 · 08/08/2012 15:07

Nothing to eat or drink from midnight. Water is fine :)

Call them? It's still day time, no reason not to!

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 08/08/2012 15:43

No one answering. Conflicting advice here and online. Some say midnight some say 12 hours, best go the 12 hours to be safe

Glad you got through, you're lucky with midnight, I had a GTT last week and had to fast from 10pm.

May I offer a couple of pieces of advice, since it's still fresh in my mind?

Firstly, they said I had 10 minutes to drink the lucozade in, and I would advise taking that full 10 minutes to sip at it. I pretty much downed it in a minute and felt incredibly dizzy and sick (although was only 14 weeks and still suffering from morning sickness so don't think that helped.)

Secondly, take a good book or something to do, you have to wait 2 hours between blood tests. I really loved having 2 hours to just sit and read TBH, between work and a toddler I can't remember the last time I did that!

Lastly, take some food actually with you. I had a one-track mind by the end where I could only think of food, and was v grateful I'd brought something to eat on the way back to the car!

Good luck with it, it was really perfectly fine :)

I had mine this morning and second everything BionicEmu said;
fasting from 10, good book. I hate eating late so hadn't had anything to eat from about 8pm. I had no food on me so stopped off at Tescos on the way home and bought 2 packets of sandwiches as was so hungry!

Good luck.

I've got this on Thursday morning at 8.30am - my MW told me not to eat after 8pm and only to drink water. Am going to be starving! good luck x

Had it yesterday, hated it.

Make sure you take your own drink, my useless midwife failed to tell me this so had a mad dash to shop to get one in the 10 mins allowed.

seabuckthorn · 09/08/2012 11:07

You can drink water though right?

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 09/08/2012 12:19

Yes water is fine. There was a woman this morning who admitted having a black coffee and they let her still do the test
