Insect repellent/bite cream recommendations

Off on holiday tomorrow to somewhere where I suspect there will be lots of bitey creatures hanging around.

Is it safe to use repellant and bite creams in pregnancy and if so does anyone have any recommendations for pregnancy-safe yet effective ones? Thanks for your help

When I was eaten alive by mossies the other week my paharmacist asvised for the future a little band which you wear around your wrist which repels insects. I would guess you would easily be able to get on of these in boots. Not used one myself though.

Was just about to post the same question!

Anyone?

Oh, those bands sound good Metal, but I need something that I can pick up at a Boots because I've left it way too late and now we're already on the journey!

I've just come back from holiday so I was looking for the answer to this a couple of weeks ago!
The boots insect repellent spray in a silver can can be used after 1st trimester but it stinks. If you get bitten then after bite is ok apparently but we couldn't find it in boots so got boots own make which is ok for use in pregnancy too. Happy holidays!!!

Thanks. Got myself some After Bite and some spray from boots which I have just noticed says 'consult your dr before use if pregnant' oh dear. I thought I'd done a good job because it says 'DEET free' and apparently that's the stuff to avoid.

Oh well DH can use that if it's bad and I'll just have to go for the 'cure' option

Ooh and lavender oil is the natural remedy... I've used that before and pretty sure it works - just dabbed on at ankles, knees, wrists and elbows. Remembered this whilst at boots in the airport and could've kicked myself for forgetting!
