wish me luck - scan today to see if placenta's moved!

I've got a scan this morning to see whether I'll be able to try for a vbac or not. At my 20 week scan the placenta was completely covering the opening to the cervix and I was lead to believe that the chances of it moving were fairly slim, but was rescanned at 34 weeks and it had moved - just not enough! Am now 36 weeks and got another scan this morning to see whether its now at least 3cm clear, or they'll book me in for another c-section.

Had a EMCS with DS after failure to progress during induction but was really hoping to avoid having a long recovery this time with havimg a toddler at home so really want to be able to a least attempt a vaginal delivery.

I've been told that they'll book a date for a section today if the placenta isn't clear, prob for around 39 weeks, but does anyone know whether they're likely to scan again before that point as if there's not much in it then 3 weeks could make a difference!

TIA

Hiya

good luck for today i hope you get the outcome you are hoping for.

i am having a section as i can't stand the thought of another long labour leading to emergency section again, have you got a back up plan for your recovery if you end up with a section?

i have read second time round is much nicer recovery and easier than emergency first.

I would of thought if you havnt moved around enough section would be booked as it may be to risky to let you labour?

Yes, I've heard section sections are easier and I am lucky to have a really supportive DH and other family and friends near by so wouldn't be the end of the world - mainly 2 year old DS who won't be particularly understanding that mummy can't pick him up or crawl round on the floor with him!

I know they won't let me labour if its not moved enough, and wouldn't want them to as v risky and dangerous. I was more wondering whether, once a section date has been booked, if they bother to scan again at say 38 weeks to see if there's been any change?

Guess I'll find out when I go today either way. Funny to think I might know the date my baby is arriving by lunch time!

Good luck with your scan

It's moved!!! I'm in shock - I really had resigned myself to having an early section so now can't get my head around the idea that I can wait and see what happens. DH is over the moon as he really wants a sept baby and has a much better chance of one now!
