and in shock!

We found out today, I was due on Wednesday and have had just a very small amount of bleeding, did a test and shouted holy fuck in surprise!

Am Grin but in shock, it hasn't sunk in yet!

First baby, H and I were planning on TTC in the new year so it's a surprise! He is already on rightmove, bless him...

I am in shock, and have no idea what is next! Do I book a GP appt and take it from there?

Congratulations :) Its an amazing journey... This is my first baby too, very shocked when we found out but learning more every step of the way.
Book in with your doctor to confirm your pregnancy and they'll give you all the info you need. You'll see a midwife a few weeks later :) Hope all goes well for you xxx

Goodness that is wonderful news, congratualtions!! you can book a GP appointment when you like but they will probably pass you on to the midwife (unless you have an health concerns) and she probably won't need to see you until about 8 weeks or so. so for now i'd enjoy not feeling too ill and check up on what you can and can't eat etc. no blue cheese for you missy!! Wink

xx

PricklyPickle · 05/08/2012 21:30

Congratulations! Its such a lovely feeling.

Its quite normal not to have any symptoms yet, don't worry, they'll come soon enough. Do as much as you can before the all consuming tiredness kicks in, which will be in a couple of weeks.

Call up your doctors, some want to see you, just usually to say hi and check you're ok. Others will just want you to fill in a midwife referral form. You'll probably see a midwife around 8-10 weeks for your long booking in appointment. Its all really easy, don't worry.

This is the beginning of the best journey ever, enjoy it! Smile

Thank you everyone! Not sure how much sleep we'll get tonight!

I keep grinning...

hzgreen i had a blue cheese burger for lunch today Sad...hope it's okay, I also had my last two glasses of wine for some time, I honestly had no idea whatsoever...

Thanks again and congrats to the rest of you! Grin

my GP was not at all interested at all in seeing me (so it was a real waste of time to go there, pay for parking etc, to be sent away with not even my blood pressure taken - made me feel a bit silly!) so I would check before going. They sent me to the mw and the first appointment (not the booking one, the one before). I am 30 weeks now, and have not seen my GP once

frogalou · 06/08/2012 14:11

and congrats! It is the best feeling in the world! x

lauratheexplorer · 06/08/2012 14:14

Congratulations! No symptoms is completely normal. Some don't gave symptoms at all but it usually kicks in around 6-8 weeks. If you're only just late you'd only be around 5 weeks and change.

Yes make an appointment with your GP or midwife directly for a booking appointment.

And join us on the 'due April 2013' ante-natal club thread!

AP78 · 06/08/2012 19:25

Hi,

I am pregnant too. We were TTC but had a few false alarms so when I threw up I thought nothing of it! Then when symptoms continued I took a test and it was positive. Have had nausea and breast tenderness off and on ever since and occasional random cramping. Lots of white discharge (sorry if TMI) along with one spate of pinky brown that had me worried until I checked out the mumsnet noticeboards that reassured me!

I am now 6 weeks (according to me) or 7 weeks (according to the antenatal clinic lady on the phone who was determined my menstrual cycle was 28 days even though it isn't...). So due date would be very late March 2013 or very early April 2013. Easter weekend either way :-)

Very pleased but at the same time nervous. Not really comprehending the things up ahead. Just paranoid I'll have a miscarriage so trying to keep my excitement in check.

Going to Crete in mid-September though and aint going to cancel that!

The only people that know are myself, my husband, my mum, and a lady at the clinic! First clinic appointment is 14th August. Wanted to see them sooner but they said there were no other spare appointments. The only do 1.15 or 2.30 Mon-Fri which is rubbish.

StrangelyCalm · 06/08/2012 19:41

Congratulations angel!! It's a great shock - I'm 14 weeks, found out at 8 weeks and didn't have a clue - didn't think we could have children (no contraception for about 4 years and nothing had happened...).
Don't worry about your blue cheese burger - I did everything possible wrong in the first 8 weeks when I had no idea - ate ALL the wrong things, drank loads - felt really guilty, but everything seems just fine. I had no symptoms at all - still none. The thing I've found the most surprising is how very different everyone's pregnancy is. The worst bit for me was not being able to tell anyone for what seemed like ages!
MN is a valuable source of information, advice and support, so have a good trawl round.
Good luck - hope you have a great pregnancy!

angeltattoo · 06/08/2012 20:29

Thanks everyone :-)

AP78 and strangelycalm congrats to you both!

Have found the thread, Bonadea, exciting!

Slowly starting to sink in...rang GP today, they said come in, nurse took some details and will do my referal letter, now I wait for MW appointment.

Spotting seems to be easing off, fingers crossed, hoping to tell my parents when I see them in two weeks, which will feel real once my mum knows I think!

Good luck to everyone

Meeee Toooooo!
Found out a week ago and now 5 or 6 weeks pregnant with my 1st, after just 2 months off my contraceptive.
I know its very early days so it feels so good to talk about it openly on here.
I have hardly any symptoms too, in fact i took another test today cos i just can't believe it. The only reason i took a test last week was because the smell of my friends choclate made me feel sick, and i LOVE chocolate! I've been to my GP who sent me straight to the maternity unit to book in. They were absolutely lovely and just chatted about what to eat etc and gave me some leaflets on birthing options to read and booked me in for an appointment at 8 weeks to take blood and urine samples.
So far everythings great, except trying not to let slip to friends and family!

Congratulations to everyone else expecting
xxx
