Anyone else got 3+ weeks on clear blue test earlier than expected?

I took the clear blue test yesterday as period 2 days late which came up 3+ weeks, first time I used it and thought this meant weeks pregnant but it actually means weeks since ovulation making me at least 6 weeks?! I assumed I was only 4 weeks as last month had a week of brown discharge before period due, took an early test and BFN, then period came, heavy red, so didn't retest, now thinking what if I am 8 weeks, feel even more horrific of what I ate/drank over last month (never drink and actually binge drank twice!!) when I could have known!! Also had brown discharge since my period due date last Thursday-so confused!

Any thoughts or experiences of clear blue tests?

Yes, exactly this happened to me. I've also heard of it happening to friends who thn discovered they were further on than they thought and had just had a random "period" in the first month. One girl bled every month at the time her period would have been due, which was I credibly stressful, but no problem with baby whatsoever.

In my case, it was a sign of an ectopic pregnancy, where a) hcg levels can be skewed in how they rise, and b) it is apparently more common to have a period style bleed in the first month, so you are further along than you think anyway.

If your period is only 2 days late, tbh it's likely that you are a month further on than you think!

HCG rises at different rates, so it maybe yours has raised quicker than the bandings on the test?

I mc in April this year at 9 weeks, so the spotting I currently have is freaking me out. It's the not knowing, it's amazing how slow a weekend can go. Going to call GP in the morning for an appointment or can I go straight to A&E to get in EPU as spotting? The thought of ectopic scares me. Thanks ladies!

sundae is right - the test will calculate based on the average range, which means it's also possible and totally normal to have higher HCG levels.

Also, not to scare you but high HCG levels can be a symptom of multiple pregnancy...

Had crossed my mind from other threads, twins do run in the family, my sister has twins as do 2 of my gran's sisters-won't mention this possibility to DP just yet!
