Bleeding last night...

Noticed when I wiped after a wee last night I was bleeding, sorry if TMI but more brown than red and only upon wiping not freely flowing as such. Hubby was on a stag do in town so he rushed home and we went to a + e, asked questions, took bloods and urine etc and now I have to wait for the early pregnancy unit to call me TOMORROW hopefully for a scan. I'm 6 weeks at the moment.

Don't know what to think, doesn't seem real and google is full of goo and bad stories regarding this : (

Bleeding in early pregnancy is very common, especially around the time that your period would be due. I've had rather a lot unfortunately, but still have a live foetus in there. I wouldn't be unduly worried unless it is bright red, or continuous, or clotty, but you have done the right thing to have it checked out.

Try not to stress, DON'T google, and hopefully you will be able to have a scan soon. I hope it works out well for you.

Thank you, the good thing is I haven't had any pain with the spotting but my period would have been due two weeks ago and not around this time.

It's going to be a long wait!

Hi Mrsb999, just wondering did you get your scan yet??? I'm at the same stage as you, 6 weeks, and I had the exact same thing yesterday, only I had period type pains when I woke up, then when I went to the loo noticed some light bleeding on the toilet paper, I gave it a few hours, as this happened my on my last pregnancy and all was well, but the cramps continued and so did the bleeding, so went to the hospital to the Gynae ward........dr did a scan and although he couldn't pick up very much from it as its early days, he said everything looked normal, so I have an appointment with the Early Pregnancy Unit at the end of this week........still have the same about of bleeding, like yours not gushing, just when I wipe and still have quite bad cramping today......really don't know what to make of it......just hoping all is okay in there and little Bean is hanging on........hope you are okay too........

Fingers crossed for us both xxx

I'm feeling positive for you, but if it changes and becomes heavier, clotty or in any way more worrying I'd advise you to just go to the EPU and sit there until they see you, or else go for a private scan. Based on my experience they don't call back, and it is worth being pushy.

I had brown bleeding from about 8-11 weeks. I also had a very worrying moment where I had very red blood but I am now 21 weeks pregnant. Brown blood is good news (if there is such thing) as apparently it is old blood.

sammyleh · 05/08/2012 22:22

I had this too hun, at around 8 weeks though and it scared the bejeezus out of me. like you it was dark red/brown blood which faded out after a few days. I've now got a healthy 29wk bump thats currently kicking my bladder and making me need a wee. Its really common and the MW told me to keep an eye out for red blood, and continuous blood as well as any cramping. Hopefully you'll be fine, try not to stress xx

I hope everything ok. I'm 6weeks too I had heavy bleeding and cramps yesterday the examined me and my cervix was closed. Went for a scan today the babysitter fine and has a heart beat but there a bleed next to the sac and the baby has moved to the middle of the womb(its ment to be at the top) got a scan in 2weeks its 50/50 but I'm thinking positive. Hope you all get good results :) x

Babys*

SpringFlowers · 06/08/2012 07:22

I started bleeding brown blood when I was five weeks and had two massive red bleeds (at 7 weeks and 12 werks) followed by more brown bleeding. I'm 16 weeks now, the baby is totally unaffected and the bleeding stopped a few days ago. So basically I bled for ten weeks but with no pain. I wanted to reassure you that it can be ok. I had my first scan at 6+5 when we could see a heartbeat and subsequent scans at 8+6, 11+6 and 12+3. Baby is dfvrloping completely normally. I really hope everything is ok for you today.

Wow so many replies, thank you all so much for your kind words.
I have a scan booked at 10:20 today so will know more then. I called them which is a good job as they had no details for me from my a & e visit Saturday night, they were meant to call me!

MrFranklyShankly · 06/08/2012 13:31

Delighted everything went so well Mrsb999, I'd say you were very relieved to see baba's heartbeat on the screen........great news..........I have to wait until Friday to find out if all is well, so fingers crossed, still have a bit of bleeding when I wipe, and it is bright red blood, but has changed to pink today??? cramping a good bit as well, but I'm trying to think positive, hoping its just baby getting set up for the next 7 (and a bit!) months.......glad to hear all is well anyway Mrsb...best of luck with it all.
