Pink spotting and loss of symptoms at 5 wks

Im 5 wks today and last night noticed light pink cm when I wiped. Plus I've had slight lower abdominal aching for a week or so.

I wouldn't be too worried with just the above as I know this could be implantation and my uterus stretching.

However, I feel my pregnancy symptoms have gone now. I was feeling 'hungover' before, as I did in the early days with dc1, but now I feel ok.

I know nobody can tell the future but has anybody else had this and been ok?

I've had it happen both ways, I've had some pink spotting that ended in an early miscarriage and then I've had some pink spotting that happened around 5 weeks and was fine - I'm now 13 weeks.

I'd make an appointment with your doctor on monday and get a referal up the the EPU - but in my case they don't scan you before 6 weeks, mainly because before then there isn't much to see.

I also didn't really get any symptoms to well into the sixth week if not the seventh so don't take that as much of a sign either - difficult I know.

I hope everything works out for you!

Just try and relax and push for an early scan, the best reassurance in the world is seeing a little heartbeat.

A consultant told me he doesn't get too worried about spotting or sludgy brown, but bright red blood is an urgent see a doctor situation.

Hey Sunnyshine, it could just be your "period". I had some bleeding earlier in the week at 8ish weeks also had slight stomach and back ache (having had 2 previous MC's this year, this panicked me) I rang my EPU straight away and they saw me the next day. Had a scan and everything is fine, they put the bleeding down to a period. Obviously you cant have a period and be pregnant but my normal period would have been this week if I was not pregnant and it stopped the next day.
I agree with Inchyinch, get in contact with your Early Pregnancy Unit and see what they say
I was advised to rest/take it easy as they only ASSUMED and we've had everything crossed!
Keep us posted!

Thanks for your replies...

The spotting stopped next day and my symptoms returned so I relaxed a bit. But last night got v slight spotting again. It's such a tiny amount with only a slight pink tinge so I'm trying not to worry.

Hard though eh? But nothing I can do.

Good luck to us all!

Hello,

It really is hard and until you've been in this position you don't realise how stressful the early days of pregnancy are.

Have you got a date for a scan yet?

It's a very good sign that your symptoms all returned thou.

sunnysunnyshine · 08/08/2012 13:26

Hi Inchy,

Not been to gp yet so haven't got any dates for scan or midwife.

Yeh, I'm really pleased my symptoms have returned. Still got a slight ache in lower abdomen but think they're stretching pains.

I'm sure I wasn't so worried with dc1, I don't remember...

Hope you're feeling well - did you start to feel better around 12 wks?

I was quite lucky I started to feel better round about 11 weeks, which was nice because for a couple of weeks previously I just couldn't keep anything down. My symptoms really started to kick off around about 6 weeks and took a little while to build to their worst. Now I have just some nausea but nothing too bad.

I still have some aches and when I was at the MW's for an early scan due to bleeding they said that as long as the cramps weren't intense or overly painful then they are absolutely nothing to worry about and normal. I still have them sometimes but that's also started to fade a bit.

I always felt like the first few weeks took forever to pass!!
