Gestational age / Nuchal fold scan?

Hi,
I've recently had an early pregnancy scan where I was told the baby was 6 weeks gestation. Does that mean 6 weeks from conception and 8 weeks from first day of last period? I'm trying to work out when I should book for a Nuchal Fold - is it 11 to 13 weeks of gestation or 11 to 13 weeks from last period?

afaik gestational weeks are always referred to from the date of the LMP. So i would guess your baby is 4 weeks from conception and 6 weeks from last period.

oh, and nuchal fold will definitely be 11-13 weeks from lmp.

i agree with elliot - definitely go by LMP. I had a scan at 6-7 weeks and they put me at only 5 and half weeks but by time i got to my 12 week scan i was back to dates matching my LMP

OK, I'm still a bit confused then. According to Wikipedia (not always correct I know, but it says) "Gestational age is age of a fetus from presumed conception. A full-term human pregnancy is considered to be 38 weeks. Note that these dates differ from calculations using the woman's LMP: the average date for conception is fourteen days (two weeks) after the LMP date."

I agree with elliott too. Not sure what to say about wilkipedia - is it a UK website? Because other countries count from date of conception rather than LMP, unlike us.

Can't speak for wikipedia, but definitely in the UK what is called 'gestational age' for all clinical purposes is calculated from the LMP. It does differ from the ACTUAL age of the fetus but this actual age is never used clinically. hth.

Thanks all. I've checked with the clinic and they said the same, by gestational age they meant age since LMP.
