No matter what I eat I get this awful hot acids sensation in the back of my throat it slowly builds throughout the day come the evening i can't ignore it any longer and it usually ends up making me sick, I've tried gaviscon, peptac, rennie etc nothing seems to work, anyone have any suggestions or natural remedies? Thank you xx

A friend of mine had this really bad, her gp gave her something for it and it stopped completely. If nothing else is working for you its probably worth a visit to your gp.

Peppermint tea? Cut down on acidic foods too.

Yes it's reflux. I've had it for years, not just during pregnancy, and my top tips are: avoid peppers (especially raw), cucumbers, tomato sauces and bulky vegetable stews, especially in the evening. Cooked vegetables are easier on the stomach than raw. Acidic fruits are lethal. Have yoghurt as a dessert. Don't drink a lot of liquid after a meal i.e. no after dinner tea or coffee. Go easy on rennies etc as the more you take, the more acid your stomach will make. I started chewing them every evening, and ended up vomiting almost immediately. The GP can prescribe meds to reduce stomach acid so it is worth making an appointment. Long term acid reflux can lead to pre-cancerous changes in the oesophagus so it really isn't something you should ignore.
