Don't know if there's anyone up who can offer any advice, but worth a go...

CS (for medical reasons) booked for 2 days time (39 weeks). From around 8pm last night I had lower back pain. This turned into reasonably painful contractions about 12 minutes apart, lasting 30 seconds or so. These were fairly regular / consistent and lasted until around 5am, but now seem to have completely stopped. They were quite different to the Braxton Hicks contractions I had earlier in pregnancy, which felt more like a strong tightening, but not painful. I've had some blood streaked mucus (but not loads).

I'm going to my local hospital to get checked out this morning, but wonder what is likely to happen now. I know if I was in proper labour they would do the CS early. But not sure what is likely to happen now that the contractions have stopped.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

I had the same as madcap, the section was planned for 39+1 but if he'd started to come early it would've been a "planned section" - so I spent a week or so terrified of contractions as we live abroad and have no childcare. ;)

I'd take my bag this morning, you probably won't be coming home alone... Lay off breakfast too! Congratulations! :)

"quickly planned" I mean. No real emergency but "will be done asap" type thing.

I had this - cs planned for 38 weeks, went into labour 2 days before, they got me in and di cs straight away. They must have told you this surely?

Call them and tell them if you haven't already

Hope you are at the hospital now, I had my 2nd planned c section booked but started having contractions two weeks prior to booked date. By the time I got to hospital I was 5 cm! I needed a c section due to being breech but I labored so fast I was at 10 cm and ready to push just as they got me into the operationing room. Thankfully they did the section quickly because ds had the cord around his neck twice.

Good luck
