2nd pregnancy - haven't seen my midwife since April! Is this normal practice?

Am 26 wks and had my booking appointment with my midwife in April but that's it. It just feels a really long time not to have seen her. She did say as it was my second baby I wouldn't see her as much but is this right? Am on the verge of ringing her but would hate to waste her time as we have a very busy prenatal clinic here. Does anyone know how often you see MW in 2nd pregnancy? Does it vary depending on your MW? Am I worrying unnecessarily? Confused

I think you should have seen her at 16 weeks, but not sure?

I thought it was just less appointments towards the end?

I've just had my booking in and she said make an appointment for 16 weeks - not sure if it's the same everywhere though.

have you not had your 20 week anomaly scan?

This gives info on the checks you should be having

ILikeMagicMike · 02/08/2012 16:13

Yes have you had the 12 week scan too?

The 2nd midwife appointment for a 2nd time pregnancy is at 28 weeks. Hasn't she already booked one for you?? You are also meant to see a midwife at the hospital at about 16 weeks when you collect your blood results but they don't always check the heartbeat at that point. Do you have your book with your notes? It says when you are meant to have your appointments on the first page. If you haven't booked one phone the clinic where she is based and book one asap as they are always very busy.

Yes, i had 12wk and 20wk scans at local hospital. All well. I remember having regular urine tests & blood pressure checks last time but I realise a lot can change in regards to procedures 3 years since I had dd.

Thanks very much for the link Vodka, I'll get reading.

2nd time around too. Have had:
Booking in apt with midwife at home
12 week scan
16 week apt with midwife at GP's
20 week scan
28 week apt with midwife at GP's is next one due.

You should have received a pamphlet at your booking in apt with all your medical details (the one you are not supposed to leave home without...). The schedule is at the back for first time mums with a little star (I think) for the apts which apply for people on repeat (and presumably normal) pregnancies.

I got told to make sure I book an appointment for 22 weeks, but I have to do that myself.

Uh oh, think I need to ring my MW then. Usually she rings me or leaves a message. Thanks for all your replies. So glad I have MNetters at my fingertips!
