Sensitivity of pg tests

Just wondering what experience people had of clear blue digital pg tests and tesco pg tests (not the digital ones)? How sensitive did you find them? How accurate do you think they are? Thanks.

You need to look at the amount of hCG they need. The smaller the number the earlier you will get a positive. From my experience a lot of the cheaper tests are exactly like the ones that are used in clinics. I haven't had any experience with the ones you have listed, but anecdotally the digital tests tend to be more sensitive (according to some of my nurse friends).

Tests are pretty accurate. That said you are much more likely to get a false negative than a false positive. If you think you are pregnant, but are getting negatives wait a day and test again. hCG levels double every 2 - 3 days.

I found clear blue digital took a few days longer to show as positive than tesco, boots and first response. (yes I did a lot of tests!)

Actually, it's the other way round. Digital ones often not as sensitive as the cheaper ones.

Really cheap ebay/amazon/poundland ones can pick up 10miu ish. I've always tested positive at 9 days post ovulation with them, way before digital ones give out a 'pregnant' reading.

Thanks everyone. With me, it turned out that the digital ones were more sensitive and my amazon/tesco ones were less so. I've been waiting for the -ve since having a miscarriage and was getting +ves with digital but -ves with the others. Today I've finally had -ve with digital. Thanks for all your help.

Sorry to hear that Woody, but good that things are settling and hope you are feeling a bit better.

Hi Woody,

Glad you've finally got your negative. I know I felt I could move on at that point.

I found Superdrug own brand tests (pink box I think) really good and it was on one of those tests that I got my BFP after my MC. Have also found the internet cheapies at 10miu reliable too. Goodluck
