Low HCG at 12 week scan anyone?

Hi just wondering if anyone could advise? My 12 week scan was all fine but i just got results from the screening in the post and although my risk numbers are great my HCG level is 0.37 MoM.

Is this anything to worry about in isolation? Sure in my other pregnancies it was more around around the 1 MoM mark.

Thanks!

I would expect someone to get in touch with you if they thought that this was low enough to be a cause for concern - but no harm in calling them up to ask about it.

With DS, my beta HCG level from the blood taken at the 12 week scan was 0.25 MoM. I had a call from the senior midwife a few days after the scan, and she said the risk of baby having Downs was 1:25,000 but she wanted me in for another scan that same day "just to check up on baby". All other test results had been normal.

When I got there, the midwife said that they hadn't been doing this test for very long, a beta HCG of 0.25 MoM was just on the threshold for it being very low, and they didn't know whether it meant anything bad - not enough data, apparently - but that there was an increased risk of baby being early or small for dates.

So I got palmed off on the consultant and got 3 week growth scans for the rest of my pregnancy.

DS was a little early and normal size for his gestation (and is now thriving), but the consultant couldn't give me a reason for him being early.

Thank you drtachyon that's very reassuring to hear. As you say i'm sure they would call if there was a problem but i may try my midwife tomorrow anyway.

Glad to hear your DS is doing well :)
