Right, I'm off to IKEA. What should I buy? (baby stuff)

It's DC1 so I have no baby kit at all. We are off to Croydon this weekend (assuming scan tomorrow goes well) to start making a few purchases. So far on my Ikea list I have:

  • Gulliver or Sundvik cot
  • Antilop high chair (not needed till older, I know, but I want to avoid multiple trips to ikea if poss!)
  • possibly some of their textiles eg flannels and baby sleeping bags, if nice
  • storage boxes for toys etc

What else is worth looking at? What have you got from IKEA that you would recommend? Any items I should avoid?

thank you!

How did you fare at IKEA OP ? Buy them out of everything?

Not gone yet - going at the weekend (unfortunately! we work all week so no options really).

I hear Saturday evenings are quietest (ooh the glamour of my life Grin)

I second a big thick blanket for middle of the night feeds. It's great too for putting under playmats when you have wooden floors - especially if they are draughty. It's usually a few degrees colder down there and you'll spend plenty of time lying on the floor too !
Later on, a cheap duvet with a blanket over does well for the rolling over stage when they escape the playmat and roll onto a hard floor with a bump every time you take your eye off them. Rolled up it also makes a great fireplace bumper [though not with the fire lit obviously] if you have a nice raised hearth made out of child friendly slate.
