Finding out about a pregnancy later than 5 weeks...

Hi everyone!

My question is, did anyone find out particularly late that they were pregnant? Due to a surprise or late bfp? I'm just so confused!
Have been ttc since Dec and My AF is 2 and a half weeks overdue...I was POAS mad for the first week and a half...haven't tested since as I assumed that I was out for this month. Doctor told me today she wants to do urine & blood test this wednesday to make sure. Surely, at nearly 3 weeks overdue I would know by now? I'm just so confused, and really wanted some reassurance from anyone who has been in a similar situation. We will obviously be over the moon if it is positive, just a bit of an odd can't-put-my-finger-on-it feeling lingering knowing that I have potentially missed the first 8 weeks of pregnancy.

Can anyone relate?

I found out at 9 but knew much earlier, despite negative test, being on pill and not even trying. If you can hold out for week 12, you might miss the yucky bit!

21 weeks myself Smile

I didn't find out until 10 weeks, it was a complete shock. My friend found out she was pregnant at the same time although she'd had a negative test two weeks before. It turns out she's actually almost three weeks ahead of me and until the scans we assumed she was three weeks behind.
I think for some people the peeing on a stick thing doesn't show through straight away.
And missing the first 8 weeks is nice, none of that nail biting 'is this going to stick?' potential miscarriage worried feeling.

pickles wow, did you not have any signs/symptoms before 21 weeks?!

Yeah I guess that's right purple I just wish I'd been a bit more careful with what I was eating and drinking! Wish I could go back and give the little bean (if there is one) the perfect 8 week start it deserves.

I found out at 7 weeks - I had a negative test too.

Imnotaslimjim · 31/07/2012 09:16

I found out at 9 weeks, though I 'knew' a little earlier than that and didn't want to believe it (ttc for 5 years + +6 chemical pgs can make you a little nervous)

Hoep you get the result you want

Pickles77 · 31/07/2012 09:17

I had nothing, all regular period dates. Did a test when I missed one period, and my positive result made me think I was no further than 7 weeks. Then I went of to a dd scan about ten weeks... And saw a little hand waving at me.
Being the niave person I am I said 'oooh I didn't realise they are that big at ten weeks!' Grin
We're now 31 weeks and still not very big!

You should hear stranded's story... Smile

I found out at 8 weeks with DD1. It was only a surprise because I'd been told I was infertile, and I was bleeding heavily every day. I don't know exactly why I did a test, I just felt a bit weird and wanted to get the idea of a pregnancy out of my head I suppose.

My friend found out at 30 weeks, 2 days before she gave birth - that was a shock! She'd done a test at around 6 weeks which was negative, she had regular periods and no symptoms or bump whatsoever. She's since found out that her mum found out she was pg with her older sister at 8.5 months, she found out with her at 7 months, and her gran found out she was pg with her mum at 7 months. They must have strange wombs!

itsmylastone that's bizarre!Smile

I know!

sundaesundae · 31/07/2012 14:48

I found out last week, I had done six tests when AF was due, three before (silly me!) and three when I was about 4 days late, one of the three (cheapo predictor thing) had the feintest pink line. The other two I did were clear blue digital and first response, all negative.

Last week I was fed up, drove to supermarket at 10pm and bought two pack of cheapo tests, I had been feeling VERY preggers. Came up positive immediately, next day did another dig, 3+.

Was very worried by the negs, but the amount of hcg can vary massively from person to person and pregnancy to pregnancy.

I still want to see a bean to be sure though, even though I have all the symptoms and they are increasing.

sundaesundae · 31/07/2012 14:49

BTW, by LMP I am 7/8 weeks, so yes is the answer to your question!

GingerDoodle · 31/07/2012 15:41

I was due mid Jan but didn't test positive until a day shy of 2 weeks later. According to scans I just ovulated late.....

sundaesundae · 31/07/2012 15:50

That's interesting Ginger, I used CBFM and I know I peaked early if anything and then dropped, so I know I didn't ovulate yet (unless I ovulate twice in a cycle!)

HenriettaHedgehog · 31/07/2012 22:50

sundae Thank you, that's reassuring to hear! So were you two weeks late when you finally got your positive?

Finding out tomorrow! Very excited but trying not to get my hopes up! My LMP started 5th June, so fingers crossed something is happening inside of there!! :)
