Can I ask to not be left until 42 weeks and how would I go about it?

^ that really,

I really don't wanna be left a full 2 extra weeks this time if I am overdue.
I was induced 42 + 1 with my first and it was horrible being left that long.
Could I ask to just be left a week overdue then induced?
this is my 2nd btw.

I think you can definitely ask for that. In my case they wanted to induce me at 40 weeks and I pushed them back till 42+2. They were positively cross with me for doing that. In my experience I'd rather leave it as long as possible as being induced was far worse than being pregnant. However, it is a personal choice and I am sure they will listen to your reasons and act accordingly. The hospital I was at would have far rather induced me at 41 weeks than 42.

You can ask but I wouldn't get your hopes up if there's no clinical need it's unlikely they'll induce before 12/14 days over depending on the area.

Hopefully you'll go into labour naturally before then though.

If my sweep 2moro at 40+3 does nothing I'm going to labour ward and insisting they get this baby out !

No not seen her yet ? But im absolutely knackered I'm now feeling so drained all I do is sleep this baby is literally sucking all my energy away I can't get out of bed at night without help and I have two other dd's to consider and it's causing all of us to b pretty miserable tbh

hmm yeah I think I'll ask. I think its also more bearable knowing I'll only have to wait a week.

The midwives in my area were happy to do a sweep at exactly 40 weeks on my second pregnancy (it worked!), they have done them earlier for friends locally who have been on second or third pregnancies, at between 38 and a half to 40 weeks.

Perhaps ask your mw if she's willing to do a sweep, that may be enough to get things moving for you?

Cheekychops84 · 31/07/2012 19:54

I had a sweep today but she asked me as she was doing it if the head was down :( shouldn't she have been able to tell that?

Oh not a bad idea about having sweeps between 38-40 weeks.

im not in surrey in the north,
