After about 2 months of not much excersise and craving for carbs and sugar I am wondering if the little bump on my belly is just fat or first sign of the little person in there? It seems to be fairly hard and not wobbly and mor on the front om my belly than all over so to speak? Obviously not particulary large but have anyone else seen the first signs from around ten weeks?

I didn't have a noticeable (to other people) bump until about 16/17 weeks but I could tell a difference in myself. Clothes felt a bit tighter and it was a bit like the way my tummy swells up when I have PMT.

ivanapoo · 29/07/2012 12:23

I mean I could tell a difference by 10 weeks!

Lovelylace · 29/07/2012 12:40

Thats, exactly what i mean, others probably wont notice but me...I can feel a difference..and it just feel different from just putting on a few pounds..

I have an obvious bump at about the same stage as you, so have had to resort to leggings as none of my trousers fit. I'm a tiny person though, previously a size 6/8 so any extra shows. I also have ridiculous comedy boobs

HaitchJay · 29/07/2012 13:41

I'm on Dc4 and have no stomach muscles so my trousers are in the 'tight' pile now and I'm 6 weeks :(

MrsReiver · 29/07/2012 13:49

I'm 9 weeks and there's definitely something there. I'm a size 18 so it's not visible to the outside world under several layers of fat, but when I lie on my front I can feel a small, hard "bump" - like I'm lying on a balled up towel IYSWIM

shimmy0 · 29/07/2012 14:42

Mrs Reiver you described it similar to what I would have. I am size 18 too and normally I have a soft belly but lately it's felt quite a bit tougher, and I'm having to open my jeans when I sit down :-( going shopping tomorrow though thankfully:-)

monsterchild · 29/07/2012 15:42

This happened to me too. It's caused by the digestion slowing down, so there's more in you (and gas). And the slight increase in your uterus pushes all your guts up a bit, so you get that bigger belly higher up, under your ribcage. Its not fat, just readjustment!

I'm 18+2 and my lower belly is beginning to show more. Bending gets hard though...

I've had a noticeable bump since 5 weeks! Mine was mostly bloat which is going down now at 11 weeks, but the baby bump is starting to appear at the bottom. This is my 3rd and I was the same with 2nd but first I didn't have any kind of bump until about 23 weeks!

PeshwariNaan · 30/07/2012 11:29

I had a bump at 10 weeks and I'd been in maternity jeans since 7 weeks. I wasn't think before I got pregnant either, but it was definitely a bump according to others. It's not twins...

*thin

zoeymlucas · 30/07/2012 15:10

How glad am I this tread has appeared I though it was just me! will be 8 weeks with number 3 tomorrow and even though things still fit they seem very tight and uncomfatable so have tasked DH with finding out my maternity clothes today :(
With DS1 I lost 3 stone with such bad sickness and never looked pregnant when he was norn at 28 weeks - with DS2 I got big FAST and then really slowed down at around 26 weeks and seemed to even out!
As long as its not just me slinking into my maternity clothes really early I feel slightly better esp as I am not really eating much!

minipie · 30/07/2012 16:22

I had this but it wasn't fat or baby, it was bloating and constipation (lovely..). I think I actually got thinner at around 12 weeks as the bloat went down and I waited for the actual baby bump.

oikopolis · 30/07/2012 19:28

It's almost definitely bloating/gas/constipation. I "showed" at that stage too -- bump disappeared at 12-14ish weeks and reappeared around 20 weeks.

Passmethecrisps · 30/07/2012 19:32

At 8/9 weeks I had filled out across the stomach and hips losing my waist in the process. I just looked porky.

By about 12-14 weeks I think I actually looked thinner as I got my waist back a bit as an actual tiny bump started to appear.

I think it was water retention.
