I'm really worried. Is it a positive and if so why would it take so long I'm currently cd39 and gave cycles between 25-32 days? Can anyone offer advice ??

Oh and I've compared yesterdays test to today's and it doesn't seem to be much darker, both frer tests although I've been having symptoms all last week

Not neccesarily. That second line is a second line. As you have found out it's not going away once it is there ;) (To be honest, when I worked in a women's clinic we would sometimes retest if the line was uber faint, but if it came up twice she got the proof of pregnancy slip from us!)

If you need reassuarnce why don't you take another brand's test, or have a test done at your GP/Walk-in Clinic/etc?

Congrats btw.

I'm not sure what af means (sorry) but a faint line is still a positive! whcih brand have you used? i always use first response becasue you can use it 6 days before your period. i have always tested really early and when there has been a really faint line it has been positive!

if you want some reassurance you can try a different brand but my understanding is that you don't get false positives, only false negatives.
xx

I guess I think does it mean it's not developing properly or something is wrong as why would it still be ambiguous a week late?
I've been of before and although I've never tested early, I didn't realise I was so was a good few weeks it was an instant blazing pos

Hi and sorry to hear you're worried. Most faint lines get stronger and I guarantee a bunch of mnetters will be along soon saying "my faint line is now having breakfast", "my faint line is playing in the garden" etc so it is likely everything is fine. But I'm a big believer in trusting your own body. I had faint lines and felt something was wrong. It turned put to be an ectopic pregnancy. But apart from the faint lines I had no other symptoms and you say you do so its likely you're fine. If you're concerned you can get a private scan from 6wks but not sure if you can do anything before.

Most likely it's all fine though. Good luck x

kittykatsforever · 29/07/2012 07:33

I don't feel as though anything is wrong necessarily and I know that everyone says a line is a line I guess I just think at this late wouldn't it be a proper line by now??
Are faint lines a sign that it may not be developing right or in the right place?
As I said I was having so many of symptoms and getting definate neg tests a few days ago

I had a feint line in 2009, she's at the park with daddy, and dd2 Grin

Hi. I had the faintest lines ever with this pregnancy. They did not get darker and k tested every day for 4 days. I used FRER and superdrug tests. But I then left it a few days and bang, got the big bold line I'd been waiting for.

I would say leave it a day or 2 and test again. Maybe you ovulated slightly later?

RobinSparkles · 29/07/2012 08:22

You could have ovulated later.

My longest natural cycle is usually about 35 days. The last time we TTC I actually changed my mind and was waiting for my period so that I could go back on the pill. I thought that the fact that it was late was due to anxiety of waiting. I took a test, I was probably on a similar cd to you, it was so faint that I nearly dismissed it (in my previous pregnancies the line had been unmistakeable at the same stage).

Wait a few days and take another test. The tests should get darker - mine were quite faint for the first few days but I had obviously ovulated later than I thought.

DD2 is 17 months old.

Lezleybaybee · 29/07/2012 13:27

Ive had the same problem.. I've done 2 pregancy test & both have got a faint line.. But I'm just taking them as i am pregnant but just still early days, I'm a week late so obvs :)

Pumpster · 29/07/2012 13:33

I did have this with a chemical pregnancy. Try again and I hope it gets darker for you.

beckslovestimmy · 29/07/2012 16:18

I had 2 x faint lines but any line is a positive. I was on holiday so was nearly 6 weeks by the time I came back, I did a clearblue digital that confirmed it with. Pregnant and I think it was 3 weeks +. by that point i had horrendous sickness so didn't really need the extra confirmation, I'm nearly 15 weeks now. I think a big congratulations to you are in order xxx xxx

plonko · 29/07/2012 20:05

I had a similar issue six weeks ago. I took a test on the day I should have started my period, not even sure why I did as I'd only been off the pill one cycle and was pretty much just guessing when my period might be due. (I had 15 internet cheapies for this very reason.) I took a test, line so incredibly faint I had to hold it to the light and squint to see it. Took several more over the next two days - same story.

I managed to hold off for another four days before taking a sainsburys own brand test. Massive clear + almost immediately. Am now 10 weeks.

Faint lines could mean so many things - try not to torture yourself!

kittykatsforever · 29/07/2012 20:12

Thanks plonko, how did you know that's exactly what I'm doing Wink

plonko · 29/07/2012 20:35

Wink It drove me crazy for the best part of a week. Really didn't help that DP kept telling me they were probably evaporation lines hope our baby doesn't inherit his lack of common sense but several days of similar looking tests and no period can only point to one thing...

GrandPoohBah · 29/07/2012 20:35

If it's an Internet cheapy or 3 for £1 one from poundland, chances are it'll never get any stronger; they just don't seem to have much in the way of dye in them. Give it a couple of days and try a superdrug one.

And congratulations - a line is a line, sounds like you're pregnant!

SparklyGothKat · 29/07/2012 20:42

I had a very faint line on an ebay cheapy on fmu. So faint I wasn't too sure at all. Showed Dp and said it must be very early days to be that faint. Did a first response test later that day and got a very strong line. Then did a digital one the next day and got 'pregnant 1-2 weeks'
She is now 9 weeks old Grin

plonko · 29/07/2012 21:15

p.s congratulations, have a Brew

kittykatsforever · 29/07/2012 21:37
