Make a fuss.

not my area of expertise but in your shoes I would give them a call. It's probably nothing but it could be OC, can't remember the actual name, and that can be serious.
Best to ask , they won't worry about you doing that.

Cheekychops84 · 28/07/2012 22:04

Really? Is it serious?

I think you should call you ooh/hosp. Let us know how you get on

RunningOutOfIdeas · 28/07/2012 22:04

You should have a number to call the hospital ante natal team. It is worth calling them tonight just to be on the safe side. You might not need to actually go there tonight.

It could also be PUPPP which isn't a sign of anything serious, but itches something awful. I had it for the last 2 months of my first pregnancy. I was scratching so much I had sore and bleeding spots everywhere. You should definitely see the doctor in the morning to rule out OC, but don't worry yourself crazy in the meantime as it could just as easily be PUPPP. By the way, if it is the latter, the only thing that worked was Snake Brand Prickly Heat Powder.

I'd call the midwives and ask them. They can let you know what you need to do. Wishing you well for the arrival of your little one!

I called they asked if my eyes were yellow which they not and if u had any piriton which I did they told me it's safe to take and see how I go overnight . I did this and slept like a log prob the piriton so will see if the itching comes back if it does i will ring in again

The yellow eyes are because OC affects the liver and a sign that it's struggling is yellow eyes and eventually skin. If the piriton works it's prob not OC but call back in if the itching comes back or your eyes go yellow.

New soap powder, conditioner, shampoo, something you've eaten?

Needingsomeadvice · 30/07/2012 01:37

I know a few people through SANDS who lost babies due to OC (sorry if this alarms) so best you get checked out, just in case? It could be any of a handful of other things, and most likely is, but you are right to be vigilant Smile

Heartstart · 30/07/2012 01:51

Hi I had oc and ignored it until I midwife noticed the scratch marks on my legs at 36 weeks. It is scary but more than likely not oc at the stage you are at. I and ds were both fine, but def better safe than sorry - good luck and will be thinking of you x

whenhenshaveteeth · 30/07/2012 07:20

Just wanted to say, I had OC and had no symptoms apart from itching; yellow eyes are actually quite rare.

Also they gave me piriton and some cream to help until I was induced and it worked well, so don't think that because the itching was relieved by piriton it's not OC!

It could be something else but if I were you, I'd contact the MW again and ask for blood test. Better safe than sorry.

Keep us updated x

Hello the itching wore off again I didn't take piriton again as it knocked me out ! I haven't scratched again and heard it's worse at night but I've been fine I will mention my bad episode I had on Saturday to the midwife tho !
