Apologies - I expect this has been done before - but what does the baby sleep under??

I have sheets and cellular blankets and now wondering about the right order.. Sheet on mattress obviously, but is there then also a (flat) sheet for over the baby but under the blanket, if you see what I mean? Or does that defeat the object of the holes in the cellular blanket?

Thanks

We put fitted sheet on the mattress, then baby on the mattress, then a flat sheet over baby, then a cellular blanket over the flat blanket.

This worked fine until DS was capable of rolling. After that, he'd wriggle his way out of sheets and blankets and wake up cold, so we switched to baby sleeping bags. Those are much simpler (although you have to be careful to buy one the right size so baby can't wriggle his head down inside the sleeping bag).

Flat or fitted sheet on the bottom.

Then we swaddle with a cellular blanket for a few weeks.

Then ds's went straight in to gro bags. We just use the cellular blankets now if it's über freezing, or in the car or in the buggy.

Can't recommend gro bags enough. In the branded bags you get a room thermometer to put in the room baby is sleeping. It tells you what to dress baby in depending on the temperature.... Ie vest, long sleeve sleep suit and gro bag or just vest and gro bag etc.

No worries about kicking blankets on head or off, or waking because they're cold, or how many blankets to put on etc.

Thanks all - very helpful. I have a grobag lined up as well - think there was a minimum weight the baby had to be so let's see how big he/she will be when born.
