am 16 weeks, since finding out I was pregnant in an effort to be good and not drink coffee I've been buying bottles of orange juice at work, read the back today and it's got added vit A, 75% of RDA (that's loads for a fat soluble vit isn't it!)

feel bad and scared! :-(

(obv avoided normal vitamin tablets and liver and all the obvious things, but didn't think to look in ORANGE JUICE! Shock)

There are 2 types of vitamin A! As far as I'm aware, you only have to be careful of liver / fish liver. The other type is found in fruit, such as mangos and oranges is not known to be dangerous.
Found some info here: www.babycenter.com/0_vitamin-a-in-your-pregnancy-diet_675.bc

What volume of juice contains the "75% RDA"?

If you've been having the recommended dose or just a bit more then I'd not worry as they rest of your diet is low in vitamin A. It's not as if you are supposed to have less than the RDA of it, just not huge amounts (eg polar bear liver etc!)

If it's "75% RDA in 100mls" and you've been downing a litre a day for instance them maybe you need to call your GP to get some advice.

Oh i'm sure that'll be fine - it would have a warning if the levels were high and potentially harmful. I think there is only a tiny risk and that's if you eat bucket loads of vit A which you'd be hard pushed to do. Our mums were told to eat liver for the iron! I REALLY wouldn't worry x

I don't know which type it was Sad I'll check the label when I'm at work tomorrow!

"What volume of juice contains the "75% RDA"?"

15% per 100ml, 500ml bottle (many of them over the last 15 weeks, as many as the amt of coffees I used to have)
