I'm 27 + 5 weeks pregnant with DC2, yesterday someone crashed into the back of my on the m/way, no airbags deployed and I felt fine yesterday. Woke up at 4am this morning aching all over and my neck and shoulders are v sore, baby is moving fine would you go and get checked over just incase? (not interested in ££ claims btw)

Yes

noblegiraffe · 26/07/2012 09:48

Yes, you might have whiplash and need physiotherapy. It would also be worth having it recorded in case anything comes up later.

Why are you not interested in compensation if you've been injured?

worriedwretch · 26/07/2012 09:51

Yes go and get checked!!!!

Biggem · 26/07/2012 09:52

I don't want to be just another one of those people claiming for the sake of it...
I've never been in an accident before and just assumed that it's normal to feel like this the day after? I bit like when you get thrown about on roller coasters or fairground rides?

I know you said you aren't interested in claiming, but I'm afraid I would have gone down the claim route if I was you. You are pregnant and this other person has caused you injury and added stress.

Have you had the car checked over? Is there any damage that could potentially cause a problem with it? I know someone who was in a similar situation and didn't claim then a few days later she was going somewhere and her car broke down.

Biggem · 26/07/2012 09:58

My NEW car (had it 3 bloody weeks, so
We can fit 2 kids, dbl. buggy and dog in, who wasn't in the boot thank god, my DD was in the car and slept through thank god) is badly damaged and I'm waiting for it to get collected and fixed, it's drivable but badly damaged so it is going through insurance anyway...

Would u call dr or speak to midwife first?

Aren't you putting your own insurance payments up by claiming off your own insurance rather than claiming off theirs? So you will be paying for their mistake in the long run!

shimmy0 · 26/07/2012 10:01

Yes I would call the midwife

AnnaFender · 26/07/2012 10:02

I'm no expert but I'm sure I've heard it's common to not feel any ill effects of an accident until the next day, because of the shock or something. So you may have whiplash or other injuries that you weren't aware of yesterday. Definitely worth being checked over.

Biggem · 26/07/2012 10:08

It is going through the 3rd parties insurance.
I will ring the midwife and see what she thinks, better to be safe than sorry I guess.
Thanks

My car was drivable after an accident and they still wrote it off. Hope you are given a decent hire car.

MissPollysTrolleyed · 26/07/2012 10:43

Yes, please call the midwife as soon as you can. I'm sure everything will be fine but it's important that you get checked out as soon as possible. Take care. x

Biggem · 26/07/2012 12:32

Spoke to the midwife and she said I should see dr, he will check the babys heartbeat too.
Just told me to get plenty of fluids.
Thanks everyone
Fingers crossed my car gets sorted on and they don't give me a super mini as a courtesy car!

Yes, get checked out. I was in a similar accident at 20 weeks, went straight to MW as wasn't feeling baby (not regular at that time anyway) all was absolutely fine but she did warn me that I would feel very stiff and achy for a few days. I felt rubbish for about a week, think I had a little bit of shock too. Best to get checked, last thing you want is stress on top of the aching xx

Rockchick1984 · 26/07/2012 17:01

Just as an additional point, you should really replace the children's car seats as they may have damage to them which would reduce their effectiveness if you were in another accident. Hope you're feeling better Smile
