i'm 37+4 weeks pregnant, & since perhaps sunday, everytime i go to the loo/ remove my knickers, i get a strong smell of blood.

there's no blood there. it's not my discharge or urine, i haven't nicked myself with the razor, etc...

it seems to be coming internally, & i'm a bit Confused

i didn't get anything like this last time.

i thought i was imagining it, but last night i got dh to check, & he could smell it too (although faintly, he said he could smell something sweet much more strongly, he said it was quite like waters, but the bloody scent was kind of mingling with it) so now i'm stressing a bit.

don't want to phone midwife over something that seems quite trivial, does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

I had this nearer the end with my second pregnancy recently, I wondered whether it was my cervix shedding cells as it got ready.

glad i'm not the only one zhen - at first i thought maybe i was about to lose my plug, but it's been going on so long i wasn't sure.

can i ask, how long did it take between you noticing the smell & labour beginning? i'm curious, as i've been having labour signs that i got with ds (48 hours prior to labour starting) for around 3 weeks now- getting fed up with it all now!

I think I had something similar with DC2 - cant remember exact timing but it could have been from around 38 weeks. In retrospect I think I was leaking fluid (although it was only noticeable when I had to pee) because I had a scan around then that showed my fluid was low. I had to sign an AMA form to leave the unit (Dr wanted to induce) and went home and drank a ton of water. Next day my fluid level had increased to the lowest end of normal. I kept on drinking lots but the funny smell persisted and I finally delivered spontaneously at 41 weeks. I hope this helps.

hmm, maybe i should mention it at next midwife appt., see what she says.

it's just because i didn't have it last time, i'm a bit anxious about it.
