Previous late miscarriage, 10 weeks pg and loss of symptoms as before, do I push for a EPU scan?

I lost my last pregnancy at 16 weeks, mmc discovered at scan when no hb found. I had lost symptoms as well but can't remember exactly when as I had a lot going on.

I am now 9+5 and have lost all symptoms. After what happened last time I am freaking out. I called my GP who said that this sometimes happens and not to worry but I can't help it, finding out at 16wks last time was devastating. I just have a feeling something is not right but I know they can't scan just for this!

I have my scan booked for 12+1, I am going to drive myself mad waiting until then to know if all is well. Should I call midwife/EPU unit directly and ask for a scan? Or should I just accept that having a scan cannot change the outcome so just wait, thinking that I have lost the baby, until 12 weeks?

GP said they would assume all was fine unless I started bleeding but I didn't bleed last time, was discovered through a scan and had to deliver. I am going crazy here. What should I do? And if I should just wait, please reassure me!

So sorry to hear of your previous loss. I would call the EPU and ask whether they would see you. There are different policies/approaches in different hospitals. My local hospital has a "walk in" EPU that anyone can self refer to, including for anxiety reasons, although they will prioritise those with bleeding/pain if they are busy.

Also in early stages of pregnancy after previous mmc - horrible isn't it.
My EPU has a similar policy to minipie's so maybe worth giving yours a ring and seeing if you can self refer. They may do blood tests 48 hrs apart to check for rising hormone levels instead of a scan though.
It's good that you don't have bleeding or cramps though and I have heard people saying that preg symptoms can often drop off around the 10 week point before returning with a vengeance at 13 weeks!
This happened to me with DS1 (a strapping 11 yr old now). Scared me witless at the time!

Hope your EPU can help put your mind at rest and everything is ok. Will be thinking of you.

Sorry for your loss. I've been there too and know how you are feeling. 2 options I can suggest: 1. Try EPU directly. I personally would lie and say I was bleeding and cramping to guarantee a scan. You could try this at the GP to get a referral, but that might be awkward if you have just seen them. 2. Pay for a private scan.

I wouldn't be able to wait another 2 weeks. My lovely EPU saw me and scanned me when I went in with loss of symptoms. It was fine btw.

Sorry for your loss, I had a late mmc last summer and am currently 38 weeks pregnant. Baby is due on the day I found out last year. For me the mmc caused huge anxiety and symptom watching this time round, it felt like my body failed and then failed to let me know the last time so I couldn't relax and look forward till I passed 18 weeks.

This pregnancy I noticed everything including symptoms trailing off around 10 weeks, loss of nausea and fatigue, after worrying a lot we booked a private scan because I really needed to know if all was well or not, baby was fine.
The odds of you having two consecutive mmc are low and it's likely all will be well for you too but only a scan will give you certain reassurance. Wishing you good news.

Thanks all, booked in at EPAU for scan tomorrow afternoon. If all is well I will try to relax and enjoy being symptom free!

Fingers crossed for you! i am 9+6 and my symptoms disapeared for a few days but have now come back a bit - i was freaking out but i have a doppler and managed to find the heartbeat yesterday.

HCG levels peak at 8-10 weeks too so morning sickness starts to decline from then on in for most people x

001001 have been thinking of you, did you manage to get a scan at your EPU?
