Breech at 28 weeks - likelihood of turning?!

This is my 2nd pregnancy and I was hoping this time round to have a home birth as I am not the biggest fan of hospitals!

Last time round the baby was head first very early on so no worries on that front! I am now 28 weeks and it is breech so am worried that my home birth plans won't happen. I know it os still early days and what ever happens - a healthy baby is main thing! But has anyone got any experiences to share!

with my fourth baby i was breech at 28 weeks, had a mw appt booked for the next day and spent all day worrying about arguing with her about not having a CS and wanting (another) home birth..... then that night, at about 2am I was woken very abruptly and just sat up and was sick everywhere (sorry tmi) didn't even have time to get out of bed.

Next day baby had turned, so I assume him flipping over was what had made me sick!

Good Luck Smile

Your baby has loads of time to turn - I really wouldn't worry just yet Smile

I am 38 weeks with DC3, and it is spinning around like the hands on a clock. It has never once been in the "correct" position. It was nearly there but back to back once.
I am not one bit worried, because the only position that matters is the one it is in when I go into labour. Which will hopefully be soon, and hopefully be some version of head first!Grin
Your baby has up to 12 weeks to get "right" for delivery. I'm sure it will be fine.

I was breech at 28 weeks and she was head down at last appointment (30 weeks) I'm guessing she'll probably move again tho. MW said to me there is no worry until 36 weeks. I have been sitting on a birthing ball as I want to go to a MLU but they won't take breech.

I was apparently breech at 28 weeks, the Dr was unsure at 34 weeks, then midwife was 100% sure baby is head down (although back to back) at 36 weeks (and she did a sneaky scan to confirm). So either baby turned or midwife at 28 weeks was wrong (which seems very possible). Have heard many tales of last minute turning, although this didn't stop me worrying about it either! This is my second too and I am hoping for MLU and a waterbirth... Fingers crossed for all of us! The odds are in our favour....

My DD was breach at 36 weeks. They were going to try and turn her or do c sec at 39 weeks. I was advised by other MN's to get on all fours, sit/bounce on a birth ball, lean over it whilst kneeling and generally be more active (was a bit of a couch potato!) Something worked as she turned herself. She's still back to back unfortunately, and waters went at 2.30 this morning! Hope that helps. Smile

One of mine was in a different position every time I went to see the MW. Still came out head first. Don't worry about it.

I wouldn't worry - you are still early days. My dd1 was breech at 35 weeks and then turned before labour.

Northernexile · 23/07/2012 13:08

My DD was breech till 36 weeks then turned by herself, a couple of days before they were going to attempt a manual turn. Plenty of time for it to happen yet!

The3Bears · 23/07/2012 13:52

28 weeks baby should still have alot of room to turn easily so I wouldnt worry just yet, my baby was head down at 28 weeks then at 34 weeks decided he prefered breech, now at 37+2 I have to go for a scan on fri to determine his position, really hoping he has turned. Just v odd as I have been alot more active in this pregnancy than my first and ds in the correct position all the way through Confused

@sparklekitty
I was in the same situation of yours...

I could've written your post squiggly! Lots of baby flipping vibes for both of us. Mine seems pretty determined to stay head-up at 29 wks Hmm
