hi ladies im 24+1 with my 3rd dc 1st dd and for the past three/four weeks i havent been able to stop itching. I dont have a rash and it gets worse later n in the day.
I have been to doctors and all he did was prescribe some exma ( sp sorry baby brain!) creams but neither of them worked so he did a blood test for liver function, anemia, glucose and they all came back fine slightly amnemic but I always am, and he said if im still itching once i start my iron im to take two days worth of piriton but thats it, but i had a lot of trouble when pregnant with ds2 so am reluctant to take it.
So am at my wits end am so tired from waking up due to itching my legs are raw from it and I dont know what to do any more.

Hi there. I recently had some bad itching, and my blood results showed a slightly raised ALT so they are looking at my liver function.

From what I have read, sometimes you can get the itching before your blood results show signs that you may have OC. So perhaps, see if the doctor or midwife will re test after a week.

Try looking at the other threads on here. Or maybe it is the heat?!

Sorry, not much help but didn't want to read and run.

Have you tried lathering yourself in E45? I was itching myself raw when pregnant with DD - a combination of Hydromol and E45 sorted it all out. Your GP can prescribe them for you...

You need blood tests done.

OC can be very dangerous to the baby but will clear up as soon as the baby is delivered.

Keep a close eye on movements.

Bicarbonate of Soda in the bath really helped me.

I found menthol cream really helped. Given by midwife but think it was called dermacool

I developed itchy legs during this pregnancy, & turned out I had an under active thyroid, so you should def ask your dr to check for that. I was prescribed thyroxine, and it quickly balanced things out.

Evasmum12 · 23/07/2012 00:52

I used sudacrem, and the E45 itch relief cream.

My itchy legs drove me insane until I went to the midwife, and I actually had pre-eclampsia, not sure if it was connected but if you are worried then definitely speak to your gp/midwife again.

I have a bath/shower and lie naked on bed covered in towls with aqueous cream all over, think its same stuff as e45 but i think its finer and better and sinks in more qucikly, that really helps.
I will also be asking for blood test when see MW!
