Sore bump from coughing

I'm 22 weeks and for the last few days have had the cough and cold from hell. Saw the OOH dr on Friday evening and my chest is clear which is good.

But the top and sides of my bump really hurt. I know it's just muscular from all the coughing but I can't help worrying. Whenever I cough (which is a lot and can be quite prolonged) my belly tightens up and I worry the baby's getting squashed (that probably sounds really silly). And I'm worried in going to damage the muscles somehow and it'll end up causing problems.

Anyone got any advice or been through the same? xx

Hey, not really much advice which I know isn't helpful Blush but I had the same when I was about 17 weeks. Had to have a few days off work to recover. Basically I started getting a bit of a cough/cold but couldn't take anything so it just attacked and got worse, I was coughing even though I had nooooo rubbish to bring up. Like you it started to really hurt my chest and bump so I went to the GP who said it was some kind of chest infection and gave me some cough suppressant medicine to stop the coughs. He said not to worry too much - the muscles/ligaments around that area are so strong and doing so much anyway in this time.

Try visiting the GP or ring your Midwife if you do get more worried xx

I'm 20+6 and have had some kind of throat/chest infection for about 3 weeks. The coughing, sneezing and blowing my nose had caused pain in my bump too. But I had terrible hayfever when pg with dd and had lots of pain with the sneezing etc but she was fine. There's plenty in there to protect them so try not to worry.
