Anyone else had green vomit?

Just wondering really what this can be. I'm waiting for my midwife and out of hours GP to get back to me.

I have hypermesis which seems to have got worse in the last week, I've vomited a bit more than usual these last few days. Today I've been sick green three times in the last 3 hours. Quite a lot of it, not like the yellow acid stuff you only get a small amount of IYKWIM? I should add even though I'm a sick machine, I still eat 5 small meals a day.

Of course, I had a chat with Dr Google and she says it might be a bowel obstruction like gall stones or a hernia. Are either of these life threatening to my baby? Just wondering if I should be ringing the assessment unit if it's a potentially time critical thing.

BTW I'm 30+5 and I can feel the baby moving.

What colour of green; dark, khaki or brighter? Also what have you eaten? Anything different to usual?

Thank you loveschocolate. It was a mixture of two colours really Hmm

Kind of a dark green and a lighter more limey green. If you look on this colour wheel I'd say it was 20% green 80% yellow green and it did have food in it.

Nope not eaten anything different. I'm too scared new food will make me worse so have like a safe list. Today I've had half a banana and 1 slice of wholemeal toast and butter, is graze snack pot that has kid of fruit and nuts in and 1/2 tin of veg soup. I was just going to have some yoghurt & blueberries but don't think I will now till I've spoken to DR. I've drank only water.

TMI now, but in my green vomit was food from today and potatoes from 7pm last night. I have been sick 5 times so far since 9am, the first 2 sicks were kind of tea coloured, but I've not had tea for 30+5weeks Grin

That would be bile, i had that with gall stones just after i gave birth to DD1. i think i would ring NHS direct TBH just to be on the safe side but its not life threatening to the baby, however if it is gall stones you want to get them diagnosed ASAP.

Well the out of hours GP service nurse rang me and said it's just bile. Didn't mention anything about hernia or gall stones. But they didn't ask if the baby movements were as usual. Hmm I am a worrier and she didn't fill me with confidence, but if neither hernia or gall stones are dangerous to the baby I'm just going to have a cracker and go back to bed!

CrazyRandomHappenstance, did you have any other symptoms of Gall Stones? I don't have an achey tummy or anything, just a mild pain in the back of my ribs which is probably the baby?

Back ache sort of around the shoulder blades, started next dayish it was awful, worse than labour. but i had pancretitis as well. i would just keep an eye on it and if it happens regularly or has any pain with it the see your Doctor.

I have gall stones and have had green and yellow sick on and off from 6-16 weeks. I presumed it was bile. I am fine and both babies doing well at 24+5.

shouldIbecrossaboutthis · 21/07/2012 18:07

it's just the amount was quite scary, I always thought bile would be a small amount with no food in it. I do feel a bit better now after a nap, going to try and have that cracker. Fingers crossed the bile has sort of re-set the sickness trend.

Sounds like bile to me. Hope that you begin to feel better soon.

I didn't get hypermesis exactly, but once a month I'd get a severe vomiting-bug esque day of throwing up every ten minutes. I'd drink water just to have something to be sick with and it would come up still cold Hmm It seemed like my body was trying to expel something - violent retching, bursting blood vessels in my face, spraining stomach and back muscles...

Anyway! I would always throw up a variety of different coloured bile. I recognised it from the awful hangover days! So yes after that long winded post - it's just bile which can be frothy, brown and a fetching array of greens and tastes like the most disgusting thing you ever might taste!
