Hi! I will be going to florida in two weeks, I'll be. 11 weeks I have my scan 2 days before we fly, do you think I should book a check up with my MW before I fly?

I dont think you need to, unless it makes you feel better :) Just into 2nd trimester is an ideal time to fly

i had a great holiday to florida when i was 12 weeks. I saw my obstetrician before i left because I had had heavy bleeding earlier on. The advice is just common sense really - stay well hydrated and keep moving around on the flight. It was suggested I wear flight compression socks, which I did, but they are not essential by any means (pregnant women are at a slightly higher risk of dvt). Hope you have a fun time.

PQ77- did you go to the parks? How did you find it being there while pregnant? X

Went to magic kingdom, animal kingdom and hollywood studios - the latter two I could only go on about half the rides but we were with 3 yr old ds - so a perfect match as he was too short! Dh went on a couple of the roller coaster type ones by himself. I really loved it - had been a long time since we'd had such a nice family holiday. It was HOT and this was in april/May - I had to make a conscious effort to drink a lot. Food was fine both in the parks and eating at restaurants in Florida - food safety standards seem very high and out of the parks particularly yummy (fresh sea food etc). Plus there was often dealcoholised wine and alcohol free beer on the menu if that's of any interest.

Wear really comfy shoes - as in sports trainers and socks or Ecco granny sandals - seriously!! You might find you get a bit worn out on your feet all day in the heat. Dh threatened to hire me a wheelchair when I was flagging - I read somewhere else on mn that some pregnant women do do that so it's not as funny as it sounds (in the end a chocolate ice cream sundae sorted me out).

I went recently at about 9 weeks pregnant and apart from being KNACKERED had a fab time. I even went on some rides I shouldn't have... The parks are massive though so a wheelchair isn't as silly as it might sound. Have a great time :-)

Hello, I went at 16 weeks pregnant and had a fab time. Have been many times over the years but usually spend a lot of my time queuing for various rides etc.

However this time I got to really enjoy wandering round the parks, going on the smaller rides and just generally being silly with hubby, even making him go on things like Dumbo and the carosel etc so I felt like I was getting the full experience!

Make sure you drink lots of water and if you need to have a sit down do it. Don't suffer in silence if you find yourself getting tired etc :)

have a great time :) x
