Nose bleeds at 36 weeks

I am currently 36 weeks + 3 and had a nose bleed in the middle of the night and another one just now. As far as I am aware, neither was brought on by anything (unless I was picking my nose in the night.... Hmm)

Is this normal at this stage? Should it be checked out at all? I last saw my doctor at 35 weeks and my blood pressure was fine and my next appointment is with the midwife on Monday.

Thanks for any advice x

I've had nose bleeds in all three of my pregnancies as far as I know it's nothing to worry about, just due to a change in a hormones affects your nose making you stuffed up and prone to nose bleeds.
I would call your midwife just in case though.

My nose bleeds were quite minor obviously if yours are heavy then do seek advice

Me too... had a nose bleed most days until about 39w and haven't had one since (now 40w).

Its very common, nothing to worry about usually. Unless it is very heavy / doesn't stop after 10 minutes of pressure. Just mention it at your next AN check.

Thanks all. I haven't had a nose bleed in years so was a bit alarmed at two in a twelve hour period!

They weren't excessively heavy and stopped pretty quickly so, unless they get silly and happen every hour, I will just mention it at my appointment on Monday.

And don't keep picking it Wink :o

I had the same at 30 weeks - 2 in a 24 hr period, lasted about 5 mins each. I was in hospital at the time, and the doctor said it is probably just because there is a higher volume of blood in your system so nose bleeds are more likely.

Had them with DD and having them again already at 26 weeks. Had a huge one this week. Just like others have said - increased bloody volume. Irritating but not worrying I would think. And Messy.
