Folic acid in the morning?

Does folic acid need to be taken in the morning or can I take it at any point in the day?

I've never seen any official advice about needing folic acid at a particular time of day, so I would guess it doesn't really matter when in the day you take it, as long as you do take it.

But I often find it's easier to remember to take vitamins first thing in the morning, because that's the part of my daily routine that changes the least.

As long as you take it with food and try for the same time each day it doesn't matter. I took it with dinner in evening first time, now I'm taking it in morning as I find its easier to remember if I put it next to the kettle!

My doc didn't say to take it with food and they didn't put take with food on the pharmacy label :-( have been taking it for a few days now and I hope I haven't done any damage :-(

Help! I've been looking this up online and there's nothing to say whether it's actually dangerous or not. Might have to call the doc :-(

Calm down its fine you can take it anytime and it does not need to be taken with food that is only tablets that contain chemicals ie antibiotics so need to be absorbed this is a vitamin so absorbs its self! As long as you taking the recommended dose everyday you will be fine regardless of the time of day its taken - I take mine as I am going to bed as in the morning I have to bad sickness and dont want to risk throwing it up.

Its a vitamin supliment tried and tested and sold over the counter so as long as you follow the one tablet a day rule its not dangerous on any level x

You won't have caused damage by taking it without food - I took it through terrible morning/ all day sickness and even though I rarely had a full stomach it was better to take it on empty stomach than not at all. I'm pretty certain the only reason it's advised that folic acid is taken with food is that - like most other vitamins - your body finds it easier to absorb this way.

Don't panic!

Oh brill thanks! I am so thrilled to hear that. When I think Folic Acid, the acid bit was the bit that made me think "oh s*"

i used to take mine in the morning - i kept it in the bathroom, so it was part of my getting ready routine.

(it's the only part of the day when i have a set-in-stone routine!)

it doesn't matter when you take it.

Don't be worried about it being an acid. Vitamin C is also called ascorbic acid; citrus fruits also contain another acid called citric acid, which gives that lovely tart citrus flavour; vinegar is mainly made up of acetic acid. Not all acids are bad :)
