Teeth separating?!!!!!!!!! :( Really upset!

What the hell is going on with my teeth?! A few weeks ago a photo of me went up on facebook and there was a black line - looking like a gap - between my front two teeth. I didn't think anything of it - thought it was just the light or something. But since then several other pics of me on different days have gone up and that same line is there - like I have a gap between my two front teeth!

I've compared these with pics before pregnant and there is NEVER a line in any of my pre-preg pics! What the hell is going on?!

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I'm sure I read my teeth are supposed to have stopped bleeding when brushing by this stage? Well one of my front two teeth has got two little red bits (one in the bit of gum between it and the other middle tooth, and one on the bit of gum at the top of the tooth) which are there all day, don't feel sore or anything, but when I brush bleed and bleed.

I've never got my MatB thing through and never bothered to chase it up, which I think means I can't get access to free maternity dentistry, but I certainly can't afford to pay at the moment either and can't find anywhere locally taking NHS patients.

Can anybody give any advice? Especially if it's to say this will get better itself/ with a bit of help from home remedies?! I'm actually really upset about this - pregnancy has played complete havoc with my body, and now seems to be threatening to take my smile too! :(

Oh dear. No dental expert here but I'd suggest (a) getting your matb1 ASAP as its valid after the birth too not just during pregnancy and (b) call your local Primary care trust. They'll have an emergency dental line which can ring round and find you an appt somewhere, without being registered. Good luck!

Ps I speak from experience - pregnancy seems to have made a filling fall out and a bit of another tooth fall off!

MatB1 is issued at 25 weeks and entitles you to maternity pay either through your employer or directly from the government.

You should have had your free prescriptions and dentistry form at your booking in appointment. You send it off and they send you a card to show the pharmacist or dentist. However, it is not compulsory for them to see it, it is you that would be prosecuted, theoretically, if you lied about entitlement. Given that you are so obviously pregnant an NHS dentist should treat you for free especially if you tell them the card is on it's way and you'll show it when you get it. Any midwife can give you the form but it must be stamped by a dr (the receptionist does it on the basis a midwife gave you the form so you must be pg).

My gums receded in pg and will never recover - I feel your pain Sad

Do get your form sorted though - I had a wisdom tooth extracted in late pg which would have been £££

I haven't got my free prescription/dentist forms yet. But I went to my dentist and they didn't make me pay. I just told them I was pregnant.

Oh dear! I've never heard of this happening, but heard of all sorts of weird things happening in pregnancy, like people's noses growing and all sorts! I've heard quite a few people saying their faces look different in pictures from when they're pregnant. Definitely worth getting to the dentist if you can, hopefully they can reassure you - from what I remember I've heard people saying changes went back after birth... ?
