constant sinus infections

Is anyone else suffering? And what do you do to control them?

I had a seriously persistent sinus infection back in March and ended up on one of the strongest antibiotics they could prescribe (after 3 failed courses of other, less trong AB's) plus some nasty nasal drops.

Now I am pg, I ovously cannot have the strong AB's. I had a week of amoxycillin, but one week after the course finished, I am again totally blocked with gunk - I will go back to docs tomorrow before the pain starts, but what can they give me? Am I resigned to the next 6 months of low level AB's - and how will this impact on my baby?

Ditto - I had sinusitis, bronchitis and an ear infection in April/May and been treated with every increasing doses of anti-bs (can't take penicillin) for about 5 weeks before the GPs gave up and prescribed anti-histamines and co-codamols (also have steroid spray for my nose). The anti-histamines work well but I can only take them once a day rather than the 3 times the GP prescribed as they cause central nervous system depression when mixed in with my other meds (i.e. I get knocked out which isn't good with 3 small children).

It has got better recently and I haven't had to take any co-codamols in the last few days but bending down is still an experience - it just doesn't make me wish I could pass out -so there is hope.

Any chance it could be hay fever? I didn't have hay fever until I was pg with DD1 (first baby) and have suffered with sinusitis in most of my pg since (sinusitis tends to be worse/more likely in pg due to progesterone causing mucous membranes to swell apparently!).

Fingers crossed you get some good pain relief and something that works Smile
