Can anyone recommend a remedy other than gaviscon, which is not even touching it for me at the moment. I have literally been swigging it from the bottle!

Tends to come on about 8pm and last night was still bad at 12.30pm by which time I was so tired I fell asleep in spite of it.

All suggestions gratefully considered.

the extra special gavsicon is good!
my gp once prescribed it to me by accident and i never went back to the regular one.
also cutting out dairy helped me immensely

it was this one

and don't worry about taking a 5ml dose, just swig from the bottle

MoonHare · 19/07/2012 14:25

Is Gaviscon advance available without prescription too?

yes it is.
but if you are pregnant you can get it free on prescription!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 19/07/2012 14:31

I think I'm an oddity because I find dairy actually helps! Also peppermint tea :)

MoonHare · 19/07/2012 14:39

I was wondering about peppermint capsules, have tried and just don't like the tea.

I had awful heartburn from practically the moment I wee'd on a stick this time. Nothing was helping. Got omenprazole prescribed from the doctors and it was an absolute miracle!

MoonHare · 19/07/2012 19:57

Thanks PickleSarnie been thinking about making appointment to see GP but thought I might just be being a bit of a wuss, however I'm realising that it's not asking too much to see GP over this (experiencing indigestion pains again as I type).

I'm not sure there's enough Gaviscon in the world to get me through this last 13 weeks!

Severe Heartburn type pain can be a sign of pre eclampsia so you should get your bp checked.

MoonHare · 19/07/2012 20:14

Thanks clayfeet I didn't know that.

Def get the advanced gaviscon, it's my friend

SkivingAgain · 19/07/2012 20:25

I found Rennie's suited me best. I'd put one under my tongue when I went to sleep to keep acid at bay.

Hope you can find a solution that suits you.

Crunched 8 rennies in a half hour period the other night - no help at all! Sigh.

It's indigestion rather than acid heartburn that's my worst affliction. Always get it when pg but last two times Gaviscon did the trick (swigging from the bottle mind you, not dainty 5ml spoonfuls). Not doing the trick this time around though.
