Is it crazy to go for a scan for reassurance when I'll be 6+6 max?

Am 6 weeks pregnant, and desperate to know if this pregnancy is going okay as I've had 2 mmc's, followed by DD, now 2.

Really want to go for an early scan to put my mind at rest or find out as soon as possible if it's not progressing as it should be, but would I be stupid to go before 7 or 8 weeks? I don't want to go and still be left wondering, if it's too early to see a heartbeat etc.

I know I should hold out for another week at least but it's just so hard!

Not stupid, because it's totally understandable. However, it would be a waste of time I suspect as a couple of days you'd just feel anxious again. It would be better to try an hold out til 8-9 weeks if you can. The anxiety's horrid though.

Afaik if you've had preppie miscarriage(s) you should be scanned at the earliest opportunity . Go for the scan . It's not good for you or baby to be worried . Congratulations on your pregnancy hope everything is good

I'd wait if you can. I've had two mmc, so can understand why you want to go now - but very early scans (before 8 weeks) aren't always conclusive anyway.

It might actually make you more stressed if they can't find a heartbeat (which wouldn't necessarily mean there was a problem).

I know it's hard, but do you think you could hold out for a couple of weeks?

Thanks for the replies and good wishes , I've started feeling a bit hungry/sick the last couple of days, which is helping reassure me a bit (I know that doesn't necessarily mean all is well but am trying v hard to stay positive).

The sane part of me knows that waiting til at least 8 weeks is the sensible thing to do.

But that's still nearly 2 weeks away, aaaargh!

Having a scan now isnt going to change the outcome but it might be inconclusive and cause you lots of unnecessary worry. It'll be really tough but I would wait. Once a heartbeat is seen at 8 weeks, there's something like a 95% chance that everything will continue to be. fine.

I've had scans at 6 + 5 and 7 weeks exactly with my 2 pregnancies and both times saw the heartbeat and was great reassurance, BUT I know I was lucky and if it will make you worry more if you can't see what you expect to then it could be counter-productive.

I had a scan at 6 +6 and all was good and the heartbeat was there but by the time I had my first 'proper' scan at 13 weeks though it had gone away.

I can understand you want reassurance but it's not going to make any difference to the outcome. (This terrifies me about getting preg again.)
