37 weeks, pulse rate shot up and feel uncomfortably hot

My normal pulse is 60-70 or thereabouts. Today keep getting what feels like palpitations. we have a blood pressure monitor so used it - bp itself about normal (116/65) but pulse 112 at rest. That was about an hour ago and after another hours rest it has gone down to 88 which is still very high for me but a lot better.

Also really hot - spent the hour lying naked on top of duvet in room with window wide open but still too hot. Damned thermometer has gone missinng so no idea if I have a temperature.

Is it worth bothering my midwife or should I just keep resting. I'm due to be induced a week today anyway for other reasons. Baby is reasonably wriggly so not worried about that

It sounds like you have an infection somewhere or other. I think you'd be safest taking yourself off to the maternity hospital for them to check you out.

Give the mw a quick call. Always better safe than sorry, imo. That's what they're there for.

Get someone to bring you a thermometer - you'll want one when the baby arrives anyway and call your midwife as soon as you have a reading to get some advice if it's on the high side.

High pulse is not a good thing. My mum had pre-enclampsia but the main problem was her pulse. Doctors could not get it down and a doctor and a midwife stand next to mum the whole labour.

Do please call your midwife, or hospital if you are registered with the maternity ward already, it is probably nothing, but could be the start of pre-eclampsia. Better be safe than sorry.

thanks everyone. I spoke to MW and she advised me to rest for an hour or two, drink plenty of water and to take bp and pulse again then phone her with results. Pulse went down to 75 and bp was 110/65 so she was happy for me to stay home but under instruction to rest as much as possible and call her or hospital if anything else odd happens plus shes booked me in for an appointment tomorrow afternoon so she can check me over herself.

So far everything's stayed normal since

Thank you all for answering
