I'm told that the sun will be making an appearance next week and could get up to 27 degrees. I really love having a suntan and i do tan very easily but am a bit unsure whether i can lay out in the sun for long periods of time?

Pregnant or not, it's not something that's really advisable Wink - your skin will be more likely to burn while you're pregnant, however, so make sure you use a good SPF.

So long as your core body temperature doesn't rise too much both of you will be fine. Same advice as for hot baths - you need to not get the bump too warm in there or dehydrate yourself. Pregnant people all over the world spend time in the sun (though tend not to lie out in it) and cope fine.

the chloasma thing would bother me personally. I noticed my skin damaged much more during preg than normal (preg acne etc) and brown spots sound pretty horrid for the sake of a deep tan. If you usually tan easily though, slap on a high factor, avoid noon to two pm and enjoy the warmth I would say.

I covered my tummy with a light sarong (not that there is much to see at the mo at 10 weeks!) and slapped factor 30 onto my pasty skin (and 40 on my face) and enjoyed the rays.

The burning more easily thing is no joke. I usually tan really evenly and deeply, very rarely get any redness but I'm 19wks and burnt my face in the blink of an eye on holiday last week. Really took me by surprise (stupidly!)
Use a decent factor sun cream if you're out in it, and don't stay in the sun for long periods.
