Hello - just wanted to post my breakthroughs with an awkward pregnancy rash in case it's of any use to anyone else.
I had a horrible rash which started out in my stomach stretch marks and spread to arms, legs, backside, and hips. This all began at about 34 weeks (am now 36+4) The itch was unbelievable. Initial doc visits all a bit clueless - have some antihistamine but try not to take etc. and use calamine lotion for the itch.
In fairness the calamine was some relief but was very very drying and created much discomfort. So here is the regime that has finally taken the itch scale from 10/10 to a much lower and calmer 5/10 when itching and 2/10 overall.
- Two or 3 showers a day exfoliating affected areas with an exfoliating cloth.
- Paracetamol works about the same as the antihistamine tablet - been taking one at night to help sleep.
- Few days of calamine to dry it out a bit.
- Now using dermo 200 in the shower (prescribed) and have also used double base gel (prescribed) which provided really good iitch relief so far.
- Also using Elizabeth Arden 8hour moisturising body lotion every 2nd day which helps with both the itch and also seems to be providing some healing to the affected areas.
- Did a patch test with the calamine, sun cream (was geting desparate and it seemed to work a bit at 1st) and Elizabeth Arden and the Elizabeth Arden kept the itch calm for the longest.
- Elizabeth Arden 8hour didn't work as well at all as their body lotion -i spent money on both but only use the body lotion for the rash now.
- From the above regime my skin has gone from raised red welts to much smoother more relieved skin - still itching a bit but much much less fiery than just antihistamines and calamine.
Please note I'm no medic so the above isn't medical advice as such - just figured its such a horrible rash that if I can help anyone bring theirs down then it's worth posting some suggestions.
Hope anyone else with this rash is ok and not feeling too disheartened. Xxxx
