Cerazette and pregnancy

I have been on Cerazette now for 2 years, and I've had nothing but trouble with it.

The latest was 'I think your pill may not be working' (was getting heavy bleeds after long periods without, then they became more regular), and I got another opinion from the doctor and she told me my body still needs to get used to it after 2 years. I have taken a few tests in the past, by the doctor because I've had a few pregnancy scares and now I'm too scared that I'll be thought as a maniac who always thinks she's pregnant.

Now, this is real. I have been keep track of my periods through a mobile tracker, and yes I know Cerazette likes to take these periods away from you. My average cycle for the past couple of months has been calculated as 44 days. I am now currently on day 45.

However, I have been getting 'period pains' (loose term, it's not as bad as my usual crippling ones) for almost 3 weeks now. I've spent a lot of my time being nauseous, tired and hungry. These pains are short lived, and feel very much like the pregnancy pains I've had before. My boobs have been hurting for 3 weeks too, they usually only hurt 2 weeks prior and stop after my period. For the past two days they have become very 'full', very, very painful and swollen.

Has anyone else had this experience on Cerazette? I honestly do not think this is time for a baby, so I am very, very worried about this and I did not know where else to turn. I am too scared to go to the doctors in case they think I have problems with thinking I'm pregnant (I've had about 3/4 tests over the last 2 years), so what do I do? Will be nice to hear stories about getting pregnant on the pill (by the way I have never missed a pill!), and what has happened??

I am still taking Cerazette although I fear I may be pregnant. If there are any more questions, please feel free to ask.

Thank you in advance.

Get a test POAS then you'll know.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 15/07/2012 17:33

POAS, and if cerazette is causing you this much stress, change to something else!

kellehbeans · 15/07/2012 17:36

I cannot take any other pill, I also have been told other progesterone only products will only produce the same side effects so its not worth it.

Also, I did say I'm too scared to take a test and I'm looking for other people who have had experiences like this too

Yes I have been on cerezette for 5/6years and have had many scares! Im pregnant now but it was planned (I came off the pill) but sometimes I would have periods then months with nothing then jus spotting then bloating ! I liked it as it has the 12 hour window but I'm
Sure it has something to do with my weight gain or lack of weight loss and I get depression which think doesn't help ! But I have had many scares of pregnancy as lack of periods and funny patterns driv u insane ! If u have been taking it correctly u shud b fine and dnt wrry but to b certain do a test xx

Cheekychops84 · 15/07/2012 17:58

I didn't test everytime mind and no baby came out so all was fine xx

kellehbeans · 15/07/2012 18:07

Thank you for your reply. Did you have cramping for 3 weeks straight at any time?

I came off cerazette for exactly this reason - I always felt pregnant!

And within a week of coming off it (and not sorting an alternative) it turned out I was actually pregnant.

I'm not sure why you've been told progesterone only will only produce the same side effects Confused I moved on to Norgeston and found it MUCH better. I thought different Pills suit different women, and it's just a case of trying them until you find one that works for you.

But you really do need to POAS. we can't tell you if you're pregnant or not.

kellehbeans · 15/07/2012 18:40

I've taken two others, one was Noriday and another I can't remember the name of. but i got on with neither of them. I've just never experienced cramping for 3 weeks without a period on cerazette!

Yes I did along with bloating ! Personally I know you are scared as was I (terrified) I would do a test hun ! But from my perspective ur most likely not pregnant but deep down u won't chill till u no for sure ! Order some cheap dip stick tests off eBay like £10 for 2 pound xx

I had these pains when I was pregnant last, the stretching feeling, that's what concerns me. I am going to book a doctors appointment tomorrow!
The stretching is definitely there, that's why I'm so concerned

perhaps you could change to non-hormonal contraception such as the coil or condoms. I was on cerazette and had no periods (this suited me a lot!) for years. I switched to the implant, implanon (same hormone) and had a period every day for a year until I got it removed. Then switched back to cerazette but got miserable and had no libido. It wasn't until we decided to try for baby that I realised the effects of the pill on my emotions and the fact that I was up for it all the time since being off it! (sorry TMI). I have never gone back to cerazette and used condoms until we decided it was time for another baby.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 16/07/2012 15:59

:o milky I was exactly the same - my sex drive miraculously reappeared when I came off it, and I am never going back!!

Cheekychops84 · 16/07/2012 16:28

My sex drive still ain't come back ! Lord knows how we made this baby? Must b immaculate conception ? Confused
