Baby friendly car suggestions?

Baby number 1 is due fairly soon and my car is dying and needs replacing. Any suggestions of what to get that is baby-friendly?

It will need to fit baby (clearly, unless I forget him...), pram/pushchair, whatever other baby paraphernalia I'm supposed to carry about and food shopping etc but I don't want anything enormous.

Any good experiences/suggestions of medium-sized, child-friendly cars very gratefully received. Thanks.

I have a VW Passat estate and can't recommend it highly enough. I bought it whilst I was pregnant having had my previous car written off in a massive head on collision with a drunk driver - there's nothing like something like this to focus the mind on road safety. It feels super safe, (has a huge number of airbags isofix etc) and lots and lots of boot space :)

I got a fiat Punto just before DS was born, 5 doors was a must for me as I have a bad back. I previously had a Fiat 500 and although it looked good I just couldn't imagine struggling to get everything in. And also there was a very limited range of pushchairs/prams that would fit in the boot! I am thrilled with my new punto with 5 doors and isofix! And can easily fit 4 adults and baby in.

Mercedes A Class! It's higher than other medium sized cars so no bending to get kids in and out of car seats. Leather as standard (wipe clean!) and although a smallish boot I could fit my quinny in it and know someone who had one and fit their phil&ted in it. Mine is ten years old but runs like a dream and I love it!

As big a car you can afford! We did the same thing when I was pregnant - changed our Citroen Saxo for a Ford Focus. Since DD has arrived I've been amazed how even our seemingly big new car just isn't big enough! The boot is full with just the pram (iCandy Strawberry), leaving only the remaining two back seats for anything else. We're driving to France for a week in August and I've no idea how we're going to fit everything in - think we will prob have to get a roof box fitted.
